Shin Sekai Yori: From the New World

- Synopsis -

This anime follows the story of five children living in what seems a utopian village, 1000 years in the future from today. In this future, the world is ruled by humans that have evolved and developed the immense power of psychokinesis.

The world and its history are much, much darker than they appear and humanity is on the verge of collapsing entirely.

- Review -

Interestingly enough, this series, despite its utter brilliance across the board, has been overlooked by many and is appreciated by few, which is unfortunate as this underrated gem outshines any other series of its season by far in terms of story, characters, and execution. The story is surprisingly very dark and highly ambitious; it is intelligent and thought provoking in many ways. Each episode, especially after episode 4, is both thrilling and captivating to the point you simply will not view this series one episode at a time.

Despite its initial appearance, Shin Sekai Yori is NOT a show for kids; be prepared for a lot of badass death and gore, deceit and adult themes. Shin Sekai Yori is a story that addresses inequality and the flaws of the human condition. It shows us the sinister side of absolute control, the price of secrecy and the perils of curiosity.

It is my fear that diving in any further to the story and characters would simply ruin the experience and thus I will leave it at this...

This show is in my top 10. I wrote this review because of how underrated it seems to be. It's exceptionally well-made, way darker than I thought it would be, and a very satisfying watch. This show gets a 10/10(surprise!).

Ever so minor spoiler -
Spoiler (Click to View)About 3/4 of the way through the show the protagonists are fully grown up, don't be put off by them being children at first. I was.

10/10? so this anime is the perfect anime in every way shape and form? And it could never get any better?

Ohh, looks interesting. I'll give it a go. What are it's genres?

Nice review! I also liked this anime a lot, but I wouldn't give it a 10/10 overall.
But the story is definitely a 10/10.

Zzzz 9.5/10 for having a slowish first 4 episodes. I can't really be that critical of a show that I loved so much. Nothing is perfect, but for what it is and its genre, it's one of the best in my honest opinion.

@MyUsernameIs, genres I'd say are mystery/psychological thriller. There is a decent amount of romance tossed in there too :3

Genres: Drama, Sci-Fi, Supernatural
you gave it a 10/10
yet you don't know the specific genre?

good review, but a 10/10 is this truly your FAVORITE ANIME?

The ending felt too rushed to give it a 10/10. If they did a bit more for the ending and a bit more aftermath, then it would get a 10 from me.
As a side note, I hand out 9s like crazy.
