Plot Summary

The story begins in the distant future in the far reaches of the galaxy. The Human Galactic Alliance has been constantly fighting for its survival against a grotesque race of beings called "Hidiaazu." During an intense battle, the young lieutenant Redo and his humanoid mobile weapon Chamber are swallowed up into a distortion of time and space. Waking from his artificially induced hibernation, Redo realizes that he has arrived on Earth, the planet on the lost frontier. On this planet that was completely flooded by the seas, people live in fleets of giant ships, salvaging relics from the seas' depths in order to survive. Redo arrives on one of the fleets called Gargantia. With no knowledge of the planet's history or culture, he is forced to live alongside Amy, a 15-year-old girl who serves as a messenger aboard the Gargantia fleet. To Redo, who has lived a life where he knows nothing but fighting, these days of peace continue to surprise him.

My Opinion
In all honesty, I love it. This anime has SO much potential, plus it's directed by the people who made Evangelion so they know what they're doing in a mecha anime. It sort of reminds me of 'Vandread', hence why I like it so much. I highly recommend you give it a try, even though only two episodes have aired so far. As far as I can tell, there is no manga for this anime.

Two things.
The directors of Eva have no connection to this anime whatsoever. It's being directed by Urobuchi Gen.
There is a manga for this anime, although it's relatively new and hasn't been scanlated yet.

I've seen the first two episodes, they were really good IMO. And the characters are just interesting and fun to watch. Probably be one of my favorites this season.

What I must say is that IG has some VERY good animators with top notch animation.
Take Suisei no Gargantia or Kakumeiki Valvrave (Both ongoings by IG currently) for example. They look so good I don't even know where to begin.

All the mecha anime from this season are really good so far. It surprised me because I usually don't really like mecha anime, but all of them have good animation, story and drawings.
This one is especially good imo, the relation between the boy and the girl is really interesting since they don't speak each other's language and communicate via the mecha, which makes the mecha looks like it's not only a tool for battle.

This. I never really go out of my way to watch mecha, but if I happen to watch it, like I am with the challenge for this season, I usually really like it ^.^

Holy shit episode 12 was amazing
