Internet Security Pro disabled USB ports

I was working on a laptop with the Internet Security Pro ransomware type virus. I removed the viruses, Sirefef and ZeroAccess. I ran into something strange. The virus disabled the USB ports. Looking at the logs, it disabled an EXE file needed to run the USB ports. Once i removed the viruses, the USB ports worked again. Anyone else run into this?
"I can fix that."
(Except Apple products, because screw Apple.)
I know you can program a virus to gain access to the Windows registry and modify it’s settings to disable the USB device support on the computer.
haven't heard of removing an .exe to get the same effect
