C Programming Language (2nd Edition)
http://www.amazon.com/C-Programming-Lang...0131103628 I've been reading through it. It is a straightforward and concise book. I've uploaded it here for your convenience.
I would personally use A First Book of ANSI C 4th Ed.
The book is really a good head start for beginners for C since it has a lot of programming exercises for you to answer and it has a lot of illustrations so reading it wouldn't be boring. :) http://www.amazon.com/First-Fourth-Editi...1418835560

Here is my Dropbox folder with programming ebooks.
I have a problem in C/C++ function prototypes
a function can be declared like this int add() {} or void add () {} or may be in other prototypes that I do not know but I do not understand this function prototype string add() {} ??!!???? what is this ??? I find something similar in a big piece of code and here it is : string translateHundred (int hundred_chunk) { // handle special cases in the teens if ( hundred_chunk < 20 ) { return num_to_text[ hundred_chunk ]; } int tens = hundred_chunk / 10; int ones = hundred_chunk % 10; return tens_to_text[ tens ] + padIfNeeded( num_to_text[ ones ] ); } string translateThousand (int thousand_chunk) { if ( thousand_chunk < 100 ) { return translateHundred( thousand_chunk ); } else { int hundreds = thousand_chunk / 100; int hundred_chunk = thousand_chunk % 100; return num_to_text[ hundreds ] + " hundred" + padIfNeeded( translateHundred( hundred_chunk ) ); } } apparently here , translateHundred and translateThousand are functions with two parameters each: int hundred_chunk int thousand_chunk and they have both curly braces and they are not classes or structures so why : string translateHundred (int hundred_chunk) {} why the word string ?? |
