Member of The Month
The MOTM (Member of The Month) award is given out each month to the most contributing member on the forum. Every member has the potential to win the award, however the decision is made by combined efforts of the members and the staff. The process consists of three phases: Nomination, Selection, and Voting.

Nomination
On the 23rd day of every month, a nomination thread is created in the HF l33t OT Discussions forum, in which only Ub3r and L33t users have the privilege of nominating a member of their choice. A nominated member can be any member who fits the following requirements.

• Minimum of 500 posts
  
• 0% warning status
  
• Has not received the MOTM award previously
  
• Non-staff member (you can nominate Mentors and ex-staff)
  
• Have not been nominated or voted upon in the past month (can be the same month)
  
• Only one member may be nominated at a time by a nominator
  

A nomination post should contain the username of the user you're nominating, followed by their profile link, three contributions they've completed and a reason on why you think they deserve the award. Contributions should be public, and not in group forums. You can also choose abstract reasons; not necessarily a thread, but one's activity and contributions to a forum. No feedback regarding other members' nomination post is allowed. Posts that violate these rules will be remove and the user may be warned.

Users may ask other users to nominate them (user A can ask user B to nominate user A for a given month.)

Selection
In the selection phase, Froggy reviews every nominated member and selects the most qualified members.
Qualities that qualify a member for the MOTM award are:

• Posting quality tutorials and threads
  
• Helping members out around the forum
  
• Respect and good manners
  
• Activity
  

Note that the only actions of a member that are taken into consideration are the actions made that month.

Voting
It's up to the members to decide who the winner is. On the 1st day of next month, a poll is created in the MOTM forum. The poll contains, at most, 10 members who have been selected to be voted upon.

You are not allowed to ask other members to vote for you. Members in the poll are not allowed to link to the poll at all; this is seen as hinting at or asking for votes. Any such attempts will get you permanently blacklisted from entering the contest and temporarily banned from the forum.

Members who are not in the MOTM competition cannot ask for votes on nominees' behalves. Members cannot intentionally ask for votes on behalf of a nominee with the intention of forcing their disqualification or ban from the contest. Users who are guilty of this will receive forum warnings or bans. The nominees themselves, however, will not be reprimanded unless they instigated or asked other users to create such threads or content. If necessary, Administrators may become involved to verify private messages or deleted content.

Users cannot use on-site or off-site media (private messages, public threads or group forums) to ask for votes, either on their own or on someone else's behalf. Users cannot advertise nor link to the MOTM competition in their signature if they are in the competition. Other users can link to the poll thread (in signatures, avatars, usertitles or posts), but they are not allowed to advertise another user nor harm another member in doing so. Links to the poll thread must link to the OP, and not to another post supporting or detracting from a nominee.

For example, this post or signature would result in a MOTM ban for Jimmy. Jimmy is in MOTM this month.

Vote for Jimmy in MOTM!

This post or signature would result in a forum ban or warning for Michael. Michael is Jimmy's friend or wants to get him disqualified.

Vote for Jimmy in MOTM!

This post or signature, however, would not. Ryan is not in the poll for this month.

Other users cannot create threads (public or private) to encourage voting for another member. Users are not allowed to spam chat services or lounge threads to get people to vote for a given user.

The member that receives the most votes by the 5th day of the month is the official winner and will be granted the MOTM award.
