WHat functions should a Chat Box have?
I need the basic functions only. What do you think?

• Private Chat

• Group Chat

• Mute Function

• Ban Function (For Admin)

• Block Function

Smiley support
Tag people's name, give them a notification when they are mentioned. Ex. @Username what's up
BB Code functionality, images, hyperlinks, general formatting.
Notification on new message, able to be toggled.
In-Page chatbox, and also full page design as well

Oh, nice. Thanks.
I am not gonna add a full-page design because I only need it
at the side of my actually web app.

I would love to help develop a chat if that's what you're doing.

Often overlooked features:

1. No duplicate usernames in the chat at the same time or at all, names need to be unique.
2. If scrollbar is scrolled all the way down, automatically scroll down when a new message comes in.
3. /me command. No chat app is complete without it.

[DAVEologist]

Uh... what does /me do? And yes, users have to log in to chat of course, so names ARE unique here.

Haha, thanks. :) You want? PM me.

: /me does this:

* ~Dec slaps DAVE with a tunafish

[DAVEologist]

Oh, more like an "action"? Sounds good. Okay. I will add that. THanks. :)
This is gonna be minimalistic, since I only need the basic chat functions, and it's just
gonna stay at the side.

Out of my own curiosity, what are you developing the chat system with?
