Alright, I have this guys phpmyadmin info for his mysql and I can log in on that and everything, how can I get his root password for ssh with this info I am at a loss.

You can try with uploading a shell with phpmyadmin, then backconnecting > local root it > drop shadow file > crack it > got root pass.
How would I even go about doing that?

Search on youtube how to put up a shell trough phpmyadmin not that hard, then search another example of php backconnect if your not familair with it, its quite easy with netcat, if all gone well search a local root exploit matching the server version and then cat the /etc/passwd file and crack it.
