So, I found this thread about selling an ebook. The maker of the thread and owner of the ebook kept saying it's limited, and that the ''promo'' will end very soon.
He also said ''This promo will end in 5 hours guys, hurry and get the ebook'' 11 days ago.
And the price is still the same.
Also he keeps updating the thread with ''The promo is ending very soon guys.''
Is this allowed?

Well he's straight out lying to get more customers.
I really think HF should do something about this.

Well if it is a ponzi scheme you could get him in trouble.
It would be hard to make this against the rules because some ebooks do have allot of promos.
So i doubt it would be against the rules, but i agree its annoying as hell.

Well, you can lie in your ebook but someone will find out and then post a community alert. There goes your HF and your sales after that.
This is something that should be put implemented into the rules as soon as possible, in my opinion.
You can clearly see how money hungry the so-called 'owners' of the ebooks are when they resort to one-day promos that last weeks (even months). This is a clear indication of how shit the ebook will be and the amount of crap that ebook will have.
Ignoring all these aside as well, straight up lying? How is that acceptable.

1+ if I could.
I would figure the most of this guy's ebooks are either common sense or public methods too.

I dont really see this as against the rules but it is rather immoral. It shouldnt be against the rules per say but rather held against the seller, as it is an indication of how he chooses to decieve people into buying his "limited" offer. All he wants is just more money... But no its not against the rules but it does not mean that we shouldnt hold people accountable for it!
...TV marketers do the same exact thing.
"Call now within the next 20 minutes for a lower price.". Do you honestly think it'll only last 20 minutes?
It's the same thing really. So they have a never ending promo? And? Does it make the ebook any more/less more valuable?
Does it change the information inside the ebook somehow? No.
Tell me why this would be so wrong and be disallowed? Besides it being immoral.

And where would I warn people about this guy?
I can't seem to find an appropriate section for it.

Marketing techniques do not necessarily make an e-book bad. Honestly if you understand what most of these e-books are I would avoid the section all together.

Shouldn't matter. In my opinion just because someone else does it doesn't mean it's right. Why should HF members here be allowed to blatantly lie in their threads just to boost their sales.
I think it just devalues the ebook even further since the owner is trying to make the most out of his/her ebook (which is highly likely to be a money making ebook, ironically).

So...you're mad that the owner is trying to make money in what he views the most efficient way? Or your mad because you didn't think
you could do it? Either way. It's not against the rules and other than being immoral it's completely fine. ._.
Tons of people do it, marketers do it. It's a basic marketing technique. Tell the consumer that there's a limited supply and they go crazy
hoping to get it before it "runs out".

TV has established itself a stereotype on its advertisements being close to a scam (for the most part). Anti-aging creams, magic blenders, etc. are all such examples.
If we can agree that the advertisements on TV aren't as miraculous as they're portrayed, that means television ads don't have a good image on their target customers.
This is the same situation with HF at the moment. Why should we let the forum degrade down and have it establish a stereotype of selling low quality contents (specifically ebooks) and not be able to tell the difference between HQ and LQ content and/or sellers?
This forum shouldn't focus on making money. Whatever content it contains, it should be HQ.
