Hi,
this is my first contribution so I hope I'm in the right forum :)
Before we get started, in case some of you don't know what Webroot is, here is a review http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2425817,00.asp or feel free to google around to find more information about it.
The trial period lasts for 14 days and once you know what to do the whole procedure to reset it takes less than a minute.
I would also like to say that this method does not require you to download anything (besides Webroot itself) or even use a real email address.
So let's get started:
1) Google "webroot trial" or go to this link: http://www.webroot.com/au/en/home/products/trials
2) At the bottom of the page click the "Free Trial" button of the package you want, but I recommend the most expensive Internet Security Complete package, because "Why not ?"
3) On the next page fill in a random name like "sdgfsg" and "dfhgdhe". Next a random email address like "[email protected]". IMPORTANT: Copy and paste the email into the confirmation box, do not retype it, we will need the email address again.
4) Now Webroot send a download link and a trial key to our fake email address. No problem! Fill in a random name like "dheth" and "dfhdhs" again. IMPORTANT: Paste the same fake email address you used before twice
5) We get a page with our download link and our key. Great we saved us making a new email account each time :) You can repeat these steps as many times as you like with the same IP, there is no shortage of trial keys. If you don't have Webroot yet, click the download link and install it with your trial key. You are done, come back in two weeks. Everybody else continue reading
6) To reset your trial first double click the Webroot icon in your taskbar to open the interface. In the bottom right click the cogwheel next to "My Account". On the new screen we can enter our trial key. Here comes the bug/exploit:
Copy and paste your trial key, click the "Activate" button and one of three things can happen:
-Nothing at all
-You get an "Invalid key" error message
-Your key gets accepted
If one of the first two things happen, close the window and repeat step 6 until your key gets accepted. Yes, that's it. That's the whole bug. In my personal experience this usually takes between 1 and 10 repetitions, less than a minute of work.
I hope somebody finds this useful. Thanks for reading and have a nice day :)
