Modify the last part of the MRT subsection description

Hey guys, Aura here with another small suggestion 🙂

This time, it addresses to the MRT subsection. I understand that Omni might do the modification later, but in case he didn't thought of it, or in case he wasn't aware of that situation, I'll just expose it there.

Here's the current description for the MRT section :

And here's what Paradoxum wrote in the [Official] Instructions to Receive Help | No Windows 8 Support :

Do you see what I'm talking about ? In the MRT subsection description, it states to "only trust MRT replies for help" while in Paradoxum's thread it states (clrealy) that "--only HF MRT helpers are allowed to offer assistance since malware removal requires proper training which our graduates are guaranteed to have undergone".
You might ask yourself, what's the matter then ? Well the matter is that in the MRT subsection description, we can understand that anyone can post in the MRT subsection but it gives a warning to ONLY TRUST replies from MRT members, while in Paradoxum's thread, it's clearly stated that ONLY the MRT members CAN reply/provide assistance in that section. And that's where the problem is. I guarantee you that in almost every thread that are being posted here, AT LEAST ONE (if not TWO) members that are NOT part of the MRT will post instructions to "help" the OP solve his issue. The OP might not be aware that he should only listen to MRT members and so he might end up doing everything people tell him to do, which could lead in him doing more harm to his system than good.

So my suggestion is to change that "only trust MRT replies for help" for "only MRT members are allowed to reply and offer assistance in this section", to make sure that no one else except the MRT members can offer help and reply to the threads in this section. And while we're at it, why not adding a part where if someone wants to ask help in the MRT section, they should follow the procedure listed in Paradoxum's sticky thread ?

If it has been suggested and denied in past, I'll close this thread right away, same if Omni said he'll do the modification someday when he have time.

Thank you. 🙂

Hate to say it, Aura, but I don't think that changing the description will cause anyone to stop making posts there. Perhaps a better course of action would be denying non-MRT members from posting replies at all in the forum.

PS: Please add a spoiler to the thread, the image is way too wide for my monitor and I have to scroll side-to-side to read the post :P

I thought about it, but it would requires a modification of the posting previlege for a couple of members and I don't think Omni will go through that. I know that a lot of people actually read the MRT subsection description, but they think it's okay to post and offer help as the last part of the description "implies" so. So modifying it would already be a first step in the right direction.

Why not implement a plugin that enforces this? 🤫

Because Omni is against third-party plugins or any other kind of plugins on HackForums. The closest form of "plugins" are userscripts and they're used at the discretion of the members.

This wouldn't stop members from posting anyways.

At least, it would still give them a fair warning before posting. I almost feel like there should be sanction for members that replies in that section if they're not part of the MRT. But it's only my point of view.

There is also a thread that gives them a warning, a fair one. But instead, members just post otherwise. And, i'm sure that Para has handed out a fair amount of warnings too.

And that's why I posted this thread. The THREAD give a warning to not post if you're not part of the MRT while the MRT subsection description doesn't state that only MRT members can post but anyone. And that's where there's a confusion.

Well, a simple description change wouldn't hurt... However, I still think that those members who roam freely around HF not caring to read those policies/guidelines around the board will continue to post in the section.

They would, I'm sure of that. But I'm sure that this change would recude, even by a bit, the number of members that are not part of the MRT that posts in this section. Members have to understand that the MRT section BELONGS to the MRT, they are the ONLY ONE allowed to reply in it and offer assistance. The rest can only post in the White Hat Help section if they want to "offer assistance".

Any little thing to reduce those numbers I guess would help.

Everything have to start somewhere so yes 🙂
Is there anyone else that have an opinion on the matter ? Or agree/disagree with this suggestion ?

There's actually a good majority of people reading the description of the MRT subsection 🙂
