Hackforums Dictionary.

Hello hackforums today I have an idea. Now before anyone bashes me I have no clue if this has been suggested before so just let me know if it has.

So basically this would be a giant project considering the vast topics on Hackforums. I would need help and suggestions from YOU, the users of HF.

This would include different acronyms and words, so when people ask things like "What does this mean, what do those letters mean?" you could refer them to the dictionary.

I'm making this thread to ask everyone if this would be a good idea. Also i'm looking for people who might like to help me with this project. I plan on putting a ton of time to make sure the thread will look perfect and convenient to all users.

Please let me know. Thanks and have a great day!

When the Hack Forum's Wiki is released to the public, a lot of the things you're talking about will be posted on there.

IMO, its not a bad idea. I havent seen it recommended before, either. It sounds useful because I see a lot of people asking those questions.

For a small example, I see a lot of, "What does 'SE' mean?"

Mind you, usually you have to just Google the abbreviations and you will find your answer, but I like the idea.
When I first came here, I had no idea what a "slave" was. Typing it in google didn't help.

This would be useful for new members :)

I thought about this. I think that this thread would be a help to the wiki actually. It would have every reference needed on one page and the wiki could link it for "further info" or something. IDK i just liked the idea and I wanted the community's opinion. Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it.

I think this thread would help a lot of members, especially those who are new. It could have different sections regarding the different sections of hackforums.

Nothing like that, actually. It would be related to hacking and the internet in general. It would include acronyms and words.

Yes, this is what I was thinking. So like if someone asked a question regarding a word, you could refer them to the thread.

Okay so what you are saying is that I shouldn't do this?

Since there's already in the process of being made, I don't think it's necessary. In my opinion. 🙂
Urban Dictionary or just asking someone through PM can be just as useful.
Thanks for the feedback. I guess I won't be doing this! I guess we'll see how the wiki works out and then decide. :) Thanks again everyone!

You can close the thread now, you got your answer. You can try doing one on your own, but the Wiki team is already handling it as previously mentioned. It is a large and organized effort rather than what you are trying to do.
