About Us
The Brotherhood Computer Sector was created to aid those in need with their
computers and other devices. Our members will aid you in every step of the way with
repairing, upgrading or updating your computer or other mobile device. Our members must face a
standard based off of the requirements set by the leaders and if they fail to comply, they will be kicked from the group.
Sub-Forums of Activity
These are the Sub-Forums we expect you to be active in,
at the minimum you will need to pick two in you application to
be active in. If you are active in the other ones not listed, that's great,
but you cannot pick those in your application.
We are currently looking for more members to fill the OS X and Linux, FreeBSD and Unix Flavors sections.
Microsoft Windows, XP, Vista, and Windows 7
Windows 8, RT and Surface
White Hat Help
Linux, FreeBSD, and Unix Flavors
Apple Mac and OS X
Computer Overclocking, Customizing, and Hardware
Networking, Routers, Switches, and Firewalls
Requirements
- Be active in sub-forums under the computing tab, this should be most if not all of them.
- You must be active in The Brotherhood sub-forum, posting a few times in a week at the very minimum.
- Reputation must be positive, all reputation will be looked at and can be a decision maker on whether we let you in or not.

application formatted and making it really stand out, you slightly have a better chance on getting
accepted than someone who has not.
Note
For every one who's applying and is picking the White Hat Help section and the Windows sections as their active section, be sure that I'll personally take all the time I need to look into each of your posts in these sections. White Hat Help/Hacking is NOT something to be taken lightly. If I see that you're lying about your White Hat Help skills/knowledge, or that I've seen you posting in the White Hat Help section in the past and that I find that you are a "threat" to this section by the advices you give, I'll personally reject your application. I know it might sounds rough, but I won't take anything related to the White Hat Help section lightly, I promise you that. For the Windows section, be sure that I know who's skilled in it and who is not, so you could understand my "warning" for the White Hat Help section could apply for the Windows sections as well. Thank you.
Update
Here's the current Susbectors of the BHCPU, and the number of spots opens in each of them.

Pick two sub-forums you will be regularly active in:
Computer Overclocking, Customizing, and Hardware
and
Apple Mac and OS X
Pick the subsector you would like to be part of : Hardware
Describe your background with computers: I have been working with computers for a year now. It all started when I took my first console apart. As a child, I loved taking stuff apart and learning the components. Now, I have built 2 computers, worked on at least 7 and fixed 3. I love learning about computers components and how they work.
What I do:
Building and Optimization- I build computer mock ups for people around their budget, what they need to do, and optimize it the best I can. Most people over spend on their PC because they do not build it for the future and what they need to do. Most people think the most expensive parts are the best, a $500 build can run Battlefield 4 @ 32fps. I help daily in the Computer Overclocking, Customizing, and Hardware section by helping people optimize their build and make a build for them around their budget.
Troubleshooting- I help users troubleshoot errors, for example, "My GPU is running slow, my usage is really high but I am not playing a game?" My first question is for the user to post their process list to see if they have a miner running on their computer. I also troubleshoot compatability issues and all the other errors you can think of.
What makes you stand out better than others to make yourself more qualified to be a part of this sector?: If it has something to do with working on a computer, I'm there. I like to think outside the box as many others. I am weird in a way, I like to take a part, and just think about how it was made, and what could be done to it. Along with anything else.
Components I have highly studied on:
Graphics Card (GPU)- I have studied Graphics Cards (Graphics Processing Unit) for about 3 months now, If someone is trying to compare performance in gaming, I typically compare vRam, and clock speed. Most enthusiast gamers looking to get the best performance of their unit will overclock. This is when you take the components clock speed and basically tell it to go faster but at a stable rate, this often requires your component to have adequate cooling and power availability. But the average consumer wants to just buy the computer components and be able to run their current games, most do not think of future games. If someone is trying to compare how good the card will render, I tend to compare the Stream Processors (AMD, Anti-Aliasing) and CUDA Cores (NVIDIA, Tessellation). Tessellation is used for expressing the flat objects to more of a 3D feel. Anti-Aliasing is optimized for smoothing out the video, for example
Code I am looking down a road on DayZ, the edges are jagged about 200 meters ahead of me.
AA fixes it to be smoother on flat spaces meant to be rounded and 3D looking.
Processor (CPU)- I started learning the mechanics of a CPU when I first got into this. It is simply the brain of the computer. It tells everything what to do basically. Think of a animal cell, it is very complex as the DNA in a mammal is very complex due to it changing in mitosis. It is like having Chromosomes (RAM), Senses (GPU), Cell Membrane (Motherboard), Nucleus (CPU).
The CPU sits in the Motherboard. The motherboard has all the other parts attached powered by electricity. The Cell Membrane is inside the cell. The cell here is the Case. Then, the chromosomes are daughters of the DNA. The RAM is the memory which provides memory applications, Random Access Memory. The senses allow you to see and hear in this case. Your Monitors are your eyes. You see what the GPU is putting out. The GPU is like an imagination, but your seeing it on a screen. Game creators take their imagination and project it into code. Your GPU then takes the code and resources and projects them. Then the CPU basically solves what the consumer throws at it. This CPU runs off a microarchitecture. AMD's latest microarchitecture is Piledriver. I am AMD consumer and studier. Also, some CPUs are Unlocked. Unlocked meaning the consumer can overclock to likings. Another thing about CPUs are, some are APUs. Meaning it has a Integrated GPU. AMDs latest APU is Kaveri. Then, AMD has Turbo Core Technology. Meaning, if enabled, when needed the CPU will boost itself. This will cause more power usage but fastly optimize the speed.
Hard Drive- Ah, the hard drive. Just about any piece of technology you own has one of these. Whether it be, a Playstation 1, a Phone, a Gameboy or even a remote. These things have to store data some way don't they? Now today, they have USBs, portable Hard drives and SD cards. SD cards are usually in cameras as well as Discs. Discs are a multimedia way of storing a distribution or media. Hard Drives are mechanical and come at all kinds of speeds and sizes! Now, don't confuse a SSD (Solid State Disk) with a Hard Drive. A SSD is nonmechanical and much faster but they do indeed cost more. You can take two Hard Drives, and put them in a RAID 0 Configuration. This allows your hard drives to split up partitions. Also, helps gaming in minimal ways. A SSD is usually used to put your OS on, so it uses the SSD to boot up and your HDD to find storage. The SSD is at least 50% faster than your average single HDD. A HDD is powered by SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment).
Not really standing out, but my most active posting place is CO,C&H. My Post Activity Feel free to PM me with ANY questions about my application

Good luck to all applicants, they do interview you thoroughly so expect that if you lie on your application you WILL be caught. Make sure that when you apply, you pick the best sections for yourself in which you monitor and make sure that you know a lot about your chosen sections. This is a FANTASTIC sector/group to join so don't hold back if you have the urge to apply! Good luck to all applicants and hope to see some new faces here shortly.

Describe your background with computers:
I've been working with computers for a few years now, as a child I allready loved to play on my PC.
I became gaining more interests in Computing, hardware related, and started to put my own PC together on the age of 14.
After finishing my school, I started studing computing and networking.
As I already said, I've been studying computing and networking, most of it was Windows based but also some Linux parts came handfull.
I managed to set up a whole server including DHCP, DNS, NAT, AD on Windows as well as Linux.
I also obtained knowledge about Firewalls, Mail Servers etc.
I've been writing guides on how to set this all up properly.
I could also provide proof about the above.
As I am still a student, which needs to be provided with more knowledge, I've been setting up a paid service in my town.
I'm reparing their computers and cleaning them up.
What makes you stand out better than others to make yourself more qualified to be a part of this sector?:
I'm a very helpfull member with a lot of patient, if somebody doesn't understand anything the first time I say it, I'll try to explain it better and provide even pictures and example's.
Besides, I am a friendly user which likes to socialize with people on Skype / Teamspeak etc.
I never really posted a lot in the sections, as I am currently busy with my study, but I am willing to pick this up and will deffinitly do that.
Thanks for viewing my application.🤝
Kind Regards,

Describe your background with computers: I was six or so when I first got into PC's. I started playing Unreal Tournament 2004, was pretty fun I wont lie. Although I've always been interested in hardware as opposed to software. I was age 11 or so when I built my first PC, with some help of course. It's all kind of ironic as I prefer hardware but I'm going on to study software development in a few months. I'm actually applying not to share my current knowledge, but instead to learn. I've recently installed Mint onto a separate machine in the hopes of learning more about Linux etc. After a recommendation, I plan to keep a log of everything I do on Mint. Everything I learn, toy around with, everything.
What makes you stand out better than others to make yourself more qualified to be a part of this sector?: More qualified in terms of knowledge? I'm not. I'm on par with others, but it's my determination to learn that sets me aside. I'm passionate to learn and also want to do my best to benefit the group. I'll be more than active in the sector and will do my best to make my spot well deserved.
Thanks for reading. 🤝
Guys put more time into your applications. It will pay off.

Describe your background with computers: Been a computer security activist for over 4 years. I've been partially trained on certain areas from various forums in regards to security. These groups include GP, BleepingComputer and GeeksToGo. Love the security field and I am huge friend of helping others learn.
What makes you stand out better than others to make yourself more qualified to be a part of this sector?: I've been in this area of Hackforums longer than probably most of the members of HF. Check my activity. White Hat Help is my field. People of the MRT team along with former staff members and even former MRT members (HJT) can say that I am a huge activist in this area and this field is by far the most fascinating to me. I am also working into a major for this in the future. I'm not going to justify why I may stand out or not just I know that the amount of work I've put into the WHH section shows and many members know of it. Hell, some of them are even around now to say so 😉
Being apart of this group allows me to assist others thus making more active members in this field. That's my main reason for applying. To help others learn the field and interest more members here 😉.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this application 😉

Shark

Describe your background with computers:
I'm very technically inclined. I love taking things apart and putting them back together again. I'm currently in school for a degree in Computer Support (Hardware). I've custom built my own computer as well as many others for friends/family. I go out of my way to help people with there PC issues. My neighbors call me often to come down and help them with not only computers, but electronics in general. I'm basically a computer/technology handy man. Doing whatever I can to explain something or give someone a better understanding.
I never claim to know everything. No one can with the way technology/computers are developing. The reason why the COCH section is one of the best sections on Hack Forums is the team work that's involved. It's the combined effort of multiple, knowledgeable members. Some of us know more about one subject then others. We often reference each other when we don't know much about the task at hand. The result is very balanced and fair advice that members can benefit from.
What makes you stand out better than others to make yourself more qualified to be a part of this sector?:
Out of the 5,241 posts I have on Hack Forums, 2,387 are in the Computer Overclocking, Customizing, and Hardware section alone. I offer build advice, troubleshooting, and just general assistance for anyone that needs it. I have some networking experience. I've set-up multiple home networks and understand simple concepts like portforwarding, firewalls, etc.

Describe your background with computers:
I have actually been working with computers for some time now. Ever since I was a kid I loved playing any type of computer game, whether it was a Flight Simulator or Battlefield, I love the idea of a mouse and keyboard, and still do.
2 Years ago my Dad passed away. My Dad had taught me everything I know about Computer hardware, and has pretty much made me very interested in it to this day. Yet only recently have I been urged to build my own computer, and can't wait to get the funds to do that.
I'm actually taking Computer Information Technologies and Cisco Networking (Routers) soon, so that is going to be awesome for me to have some background information to come in this group on.
What makes you stand out better than others to make yourself more qualified to be a part of this sector?:
I am a very active member. Whether it's the sub-forums or the Teamspeak. I will be there once a day. I love filling up the Nexus sub-forums, because I feel like I am doing something to contribute to the group and I want to feel this way with another group. Other than that, I do have a rather wide knowledge base on certain subjects and feel I would be a great big help!
