Keylogger silently installs and executes?

Hey guys. Tonight, a guy added my friend on steam and sent him this

"Hey man, i have some lagg, i cann't add you from my trade acc, can you add me i have good offer to you"

as well as a link to what I presume is a key logger that downloads onto your computer. The link was spelt like this 'steammcomunnitty' with a bunch of numbers at the end. I was just wondering how he could of got it to silently download and execute in the background.

Any help is appreciated :)
In order for it to go onto your computer you acctually have to click it and download it. Theres no way around TCP. You have to agree to download the programs. If you did not click the link. Your fine.

As for the process running silently, thats simple. Im not a coder but I will put it in laymen terms.

When they develope the software they write a line basically saying:

=if program is open --> close the program

Hope this helps.
This is a phishing site...

The person was trying to get your friend to log in to his fake steam link so he could get his login credentials. 🤫
It's not a keylogger, it's a simple phishing site. It won't ask you to download anything.
Ohh haha how silly of me lol. Thanks guys :)
