Information:
I'll start off by saying this, there is no "how to become a hacker". Hacking is a highly broad term that spans across so many platforms and techniques. First things first coding; programming is the most important part. I'd start with learning HTML. HTML is so easy to learn, and there's loads of free sites that teach how to code HTML (Check S6). You'll also need to start off with a light programming language to help you along the way. Python is pretty useful. Java can be useful but can be very advanced. You can use Java and HTML skills to make a Java Drive By. I also must say upholding yourself and knowing fluent English, as well as using proper spelling and grammar will get you more respect on these forums and everywhere else really. You also need the motivation. It takes time to learn advanced things, and this can be one of those things. You don't need to be a super nerd to know these things. You need to have the motivation to learn.

------

Quick Tips
-Don't trust someone else's virus scan.
-Make sure you verify the MD5 hash given in the scan with the file itself. Or they could fake the scan.
-VPNs nor proxies are safe. They never have been and never were. The second your VPN server collapses (if it were to) you're completely exposed.
-Sandboxie is NOT a safe application for malware testing. Many crypters have a feature that can bypass sandboxie and harm/infect your device.
-VMs are the safest way to test malware.
-Assuming everyone is out there to infect you will help too.
-DDoS is an international crime. And could land you in federal prison.

------

Terminology:
-DoS/DDoS: The act of sending information (packets) to a device to crash it.
-SQLi: SQL injection
-RAT: Remote Administration Tool
-VM: Virtual Machine - mainly in our case (a hacker's) used for malware labs/testing labs.
-VPN: Virtual Private Network - A gateway of sorts to mask your IP.
-HTML: Hypertext Markup Language. The backbone of the web. The skeleton; if you will. What you're looking at now essentially.
-Black hat: A hacker who aims for revenge, destruction, and money.
-White hat: A person who aims to help positively with their skills and knowledge.
-Gray hat: They are neither black hat or white hat. They know the best of both worlds. And do bad and good things.

------

How to become a hacker you ask?:
It's all about your ethics as a hacker. But these are some good things to know before starting your path.

Become a big time black-hat: Know HTML and learn a lightweight language.
Become a white-hat: Know HTML and learn the fundementals of pentesting.
Become a gray-hat: Know both things.

Now let me outline the difference between a skid and a hacker:
A skid is a person who relies on other's tools and knowledge to hack.
A hacker is a person who makes their tools and uses their own knowledge to hack.

Very useful post, though I would disagree that black hats are skids. I think skids are on their own level. I've been on the private blackhat sites there's a lot of knowledgeable members on there. Also you should add that a knowledge of networking is needed as well for becoming a successful hacker.

Not a bad post. Some malware doesn't execute in VMs, as well, and stealers can still steal your info in Sandboxie. You don't need a like of PHP to make a JDB, you just need HTML. Here's a good place to learn a ton of web languages: www.w3schools.com/‎
Updated it, as information was provided. Also added some outline to what a skid is, and what a hacker isn't. Feedback is appreciated to advance and expand this thread. Any information you feel should be added? PM me or post here. I might not see it if you just post it though. Added some section markers, and clearly outlined the section's titles.

Finally somebody who has some respect for learning html first before u do anything lol also idk ur the higher up and all I'm just new but shouldn't basic command line cus when that black screen and text pop up it can be intimidating and really it's MADD easy to navigate. But yea just food for though thanks for the thread it was really needed
There have been lots of threads like these but they're usually buried.

Nice thread though dude!
nice thread dude ; keep it up :) ....
Thanks for the feedback guys. So far I feel that this thread is great, but could use a better layout. As always suggestions and feedback are appreciated.
So basically if I want to become say a white hat hacker I need to learn how to program? I'm trying to teach myself Java and its extremely confusing. Should I start with HTML first and then say try learning Python?

I'd definitely recommend knowing HTML before everything else. HTML is so easy to learn. www.codeacademy.com is a great place to start. Python was a recommendation, but any lightweight programming language will do. Apache might work. But I'd suggest Python. Java is very difficult to learn. Javascript is easy. However Java is a lot more difficult. I'd start off with the suggestions and steps I listed.
Pretty basic tutorial, seen a ton of these popping up lately :).
Keep up the good work.

Yeah thanks I'm trying. I'm writing a draft at the moment and trying to pick out more useful information for this thread.

Let me know if you need some ideas :).

I could definitely use some ideas. I'm aiming to expand the knowledge and further a path for whatever choice a beginner hacker may choose as their path. I need to make a proper learning path for black/gray/white hat beginners. As in:

Black Hat: HTML -> Python
I'm a skid by your definition :'(( ok
