[Solved] VB6 IDE auto-complete code? [Resolved]

I have a well known problem here. My academic university has prescribed VB6 IDE to be used to write VB programs. The problem is when I write code into Visual Studio, it used to give me auto-complete coding features, however with this older IDE, I do not seem or understand how to turn on this feature?

I am using the following:

I wanted to code using the auto-suggest with the form code and everywhere where the source goes, how do I acheive this? thank you! 🤝

I don't know the resolution to your problem so sorry. I'm more gobsmacked that a higher education institute is still using vb6 and not made the jump to the latest version.

yes, that so much sucks. I mean how the hell such education institution provides us gurantee for our career if it prescribes the 6th edition of VB6; that is too funny. 🤣
You realize that you are comparing VB6 with VB.Net right ?

I do, and the only question stands here is the thread itself. Because it;s fucking prescribed by my university, I can;t just use any other IDE other than VB6 in the practicals. 🤦‍♂

I think that that is impossible. Auto complete is not possible in VB6 IDE.

some peeps in my class said they have the auto-complete enabled in VB6, I just wonder if this was differet edition of VB6. I am using Enterprise.
I know how you feel about VB6 being your given IDE without a choice, my school is the same. Anyway there is an auto-suggest of a sort. Such as when creating a variable or doing something Like Text1."" will bring up all the options associated with the text box e.g Text, PasswordChar etc. The same is said for all controls. Unfortunately the auto-suggest isn't as broad as VB.NET's where it suggests functions or whatever, you'll have to make do with your knowledge but if the cases are rearranging or words are turning blue then you're on the right track - from a simple point of view.
Try checking the 'Auto List Members' option in Tools>Options>Editor.

That's checked, when I write Di.. It doesn't seem to auto-fill as Dim in teh form code window. That is supposed to be normal with VB6, because Visual Studio did that completion as well? 🤐 ❓
Doesn't intellisense stop working whenever it hits a syntax error?

Do a full compile and see what errors it digs up.

yes it's alright now. Fixed when I started off VB6 in Win8 with elevated priviledges. It was a OLE which wasn't able to communicate with internal COM imo... the other guy gave me the idea. I ran using admin priv. 🤝

Thank you all. It's resolved. But still I think this IDE has too little Intellisense, haha. Visual Studio is a better offset to coding in VB.
