Why do you love anime?
What drives you to watch it?
Share your opinions here, it might motivate other people to watch anime. We've got quite a few lurkers in this section who don't post because they don't feel like it or are ashamed for some odd reason. I've PM'ed with some of them and they are quite friendly if you get to know them.
For me, I do not have an absolute reason why I love anime. It differs for each genre, each anime, each season, each episode.
If I had to describe anime in 1 word, it would definitely be beautiful.
I LOVE the animation, I love the characters, I love the personalities that you see in anime. I enjoy romance in anime, it gives you a certain feeling of pleasure which is something that I can't describe in words alone.
Anime generally hits me harder than most of the TV-Series people watch, and I enjoy it a lot more. I don't know why, it just does.
I've gotten a few of my friends (7~8) to watch anime and I'm happy that I did. It feels great to discuss anime with them.
I personally can't understand why you wouldn't like this:

It's beautiful. I'd love to see activity increase in the AA, and I'd love to see a decrease in "Please recommend me an anime" threads.
This thread is supposed to encourage discussion about why you love anime, and how we could bring more members to this section.

I think this kind of thing would scare people away as a first impression lol.
I like some anime because sometimes it has some surprisingly philosophical stuff outta nowhere. Steins;Gate, CHaoS;HEad, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica even, and other stuff with good life stories like Clannad + Afterstory.
Of course I do like some of it for the same reasons as OP. Some of it for the diversity in types of anime with mystery, sci-fi, or fantasy, etc.
Don't like 11-year old girl perversion? Lolis are just a form of art, you can pretend they're actually any age you want. 0l0l0l

Loli's are art 😈.
I really love the psychological and philosophical things in some anime too. Stein;s Gate did a great job with that.
I've always been into reading, and watching good TV shows/movies that have good storylines. Doesn't matter what genre it is,
The thing about anime are, some of the stories are very very well developed, yes some of it can get repetitive but every anime has some kind of difference or twist behind them.(well maybe not all of them).
I like Anime because it's like dwelling into someone elses life and it really stirs my imagination when I get bored of whatever I do in real life. Also, they got some pretty good puns and one liners from time to time varying from anime.
Also, people don't really get used to the AA section compared to other threads. They just want to discuss without reading previous threads and they get shot down by nerdy lifeless otaku without given a chance to know why they get flamed at.
"If you were to write a story with me in the lead role, it would certainly be a tragedy."
I like anime because I grew up with it on MySpace where there was a ton of anime roleplayers and Kingdom Hearts was all the rage. Since then, I grew to love it and I want to get back into it now. I can just help out by making anime reviews, I know some obscure ones.

Also mind you most people anime for what it is, a hobby.
There are some people that go overboard and actually get too deep into it and it consumes them as if all of it is real.
Ex. The Hentai folks
Ex. The Animated GF/Waifus.
Ex. The I can relate to the story.
Not saying any of the examples are bad, but some people do go way overboard.
Then theres people who simply don't like anime.
we need more yuri and lolis im pretty sure

This guy knows what's up.
Digs through loli folders
The diversity of it all. The fact that it is from a different culture means it has a lot to bring to the table in terms of stories and characters. I'm from the United States and can personally attest to the fact that tv programming here is awful minus the few original series. But for the most part US shows are crappy "reality" or over saturated shows that should have ended long ago.
The art styles from some of the studios like Ghibli are just amazing. The attention to detail is mind-blowingly beautiful weather it be brightly colored or dark.
All in all I love anime for its diverse stories, a look into a different culture, and most of all the adventure that I get to embark on each and every series I watch.
I also want to say that it can be used as an escape, anyone who actively reads books will know the feeling of being transported to the world of the story and forgetting about all of the problems in the world if only for a few pages. Well with anime that's how it is, an escape 22 minutes at a times (on average).
I encourage everyone who enjoys a good story to come along with us for a ride and post in our section, we love to talk about it all and share our ideas and recommendations with anyone who is open minded enough to give it all a shot.
I personal like anime because it show how life is and sometimes give you life tips. For example the anime movie called 5cm per second basically shows you what happens when you love someone for the rest of your life. Also, anime is very entertaining and sometimes when I watch anime I tell my self why life isn't like this why do I have to live in a shitty world where people only think about themself and no one else. It basically make you think about life in the real world and how life can be in a anime. Anime had help me with so much problems in real life and it still guiding me through life showing me what to do and what not to do. For example, if you love something and care for your friend don't leave them behind struggling help them overcome those struggles. It also means to not give up on something you care about. That just some things that I have learn. Also, I like Loli.

Where can I start
The first thing I like about anime is the art,the way the illustrator puts effort into drawing the characters.
Then comes the plot most anime have better plots, than Most movies I've watched. They always keep you in suspense or entice you with the romance.
I also have after a few episodes you can start to get attached to a character or you can start to hate them. Anime is one of the only things that actually get emotion out of me.
🎉🎉👍👍👍
