First off, we are going to need to download an XMPP Client, for this I recommend Pidgin because you can use Off the Record chat, You can download this at this website: http://pidgin.im download and and install it.
Next off, we are going to get the Off the Record plugin (this can be skipped but not recommended at all) For this, we download it from: https://otr.cypherpunks.ca/ Install this. I will add some pics from here.
Now you're going to want to turn on your OTR, which you will find by going to Tools, then go to Plguins, there should be a green logo beside it. Once you find it, turn it on.
Once you have turned on OTR its time to get you an account for jabber. From here, you're going to go to Accounts, left of Tools, click on Manage Accounts. Click "Add" don't worry about changing anything on the two other pages unless you have a use for them.
It will probably have AIM as the default protocol, you need to change that to XMPP just scroll till you see it. The format will change up. Choose your Username and Password(MAKE SURE TO REMEMBER FOR LATER STEP) that you decide, I recommend saving your password unless you always want to type it in.
Now from here, you're looking for a domain, there are several known ones to use. thesecure.biz(so far not working at this time 4/30/2014) - exploit.im - jabber.org... Now once you enter the domain, a box will open at the bottom asking if you want to create an account. Click that box, and hit add. Accept the security keys, a "Register New XMPP Account" message will pop up, hit Register.

Once you have successfully registered an account, you need to turn it on, go back to Accounts, beside Tools and then Manage Accounts and click the check for your jabber. If I missed anything pm me.
