Thor | FBN SOTW #2

So, I made the Thor signature entry for the FBN's SOTW #2 and I know I lost I didn't enter just to win but, for an experience I rarely make signatures at all and this has been my first in quite sometime. Please post some CnC on how to improve my work. I have since added some additional lighting to the signature but, let me know which is better and like I said please CnC.

BIG THANKS TO FBN FOR HOSTING A SOTW!
First of all you have to understand that making a tag takes more than compiling a render with a BG and fancy effects.
It's about composition, color palette, flow, depth, etc
With that being said... there is not much to say about this particular tag. Perhaps if you showed me the layers I could be of assistance? I do not really know what you did there aside from taking a BG, render, red brush and text.
I like the first one more! Good job :)

I mean I did add some layers mainly fail at making these type of things. I wish I had some examples to follow by. Meh.

You should check out some tutorials on deviantArt. There are multiple ways to make a tag: Smudge, c4d tags or simply putting up stocks. I'm more of a "smudger" myself so that's what I usually do, gives the best outcome imo, not saying that c4d tags suck of course, it always depends on the incorporation of c4ds in the tag

Who said a tag needs to have composition, color palette, flow, and depth? Those are just aspects to aid in pleasing our eyes. You people keep rating pieces from a master-slave perspective. Since one guy said a tag needs those aspects, you just automatically assume that that is the correct 'way' and you judge art that way just because that man said so.

Art is about variety, inspiration, and creativity; which applies to tags also.

You say his tag lacks those aspects, well don't judge it that way because it's useless. He made the piece from his own set of skills and creativity from the mind. Judge him on what he did rather than what he did not do. Tell him how he can improve 'his' style rather than saying it needs exactly what every other tag/artwork in this section has. Give him tips or tell him ways that he can spruce up his artwork. Don't critique it just because it does not have the aspects that the other guy in the section has.

My critique:

I like the darker color scheme, but the sides feel rather empty due to the small render in the middle. I can't say for sure what to add to decrease the width of the sides though; you could just maybe clip the sides down unless you were on a size limitation. The second version is better in bringing life to the character than the first, but I think just making it more vibrant in the middle would have it stand out more against most darker backgrounds and forums. I'm glad you placed the text where you did as the background is more plain in that area allowing for the text to bounce off. The side is also good since it compliments the left-right reading style. I would recommend that the text at the bottom be a tad larger for an easier read though. Overall it is not a bad piece, but with a few improvements it can easily become better.

Please do not spam the thread with pointless images. Went ahead and reported your post since you give no comments but only an image telling of how you don't understand the english language.

If you're not posting to give a legitimate comment to OP or another poster, you might as well just move on to another section of HF
