Module of the Week: Ideas and Brainstorming

I posted a thread a few days ago about and idea I had - module of the day. I've decided to do it, so I'm asking your advice.

I don't have the main thread up yet, but this will do for now.

I've been considering either the sys or os modules. I want to cover a module that is used a lot and has lots of uses. However, I'm not exactly sure what to make with either of them to see their full potential.

So, I need ideas. I'm thinking some sort of system utility that automates something, but I'm not sure. Also, if you have particular modules that you would like to see, pleas recommend them here.

Thanks in advance!

You should take a look at the json module, and urllib/2 modules, and create your own web scraper/"database" with json (hash table lookups are extremely fast if done right). For any kind of data you want. Of course, that would be modules of the day.

If you really wanted to go with the os module, you could create a directory crawler, and print out and empty files or folders. It's kinda tricky getting back one folder if you've gone down a few sub folders.

I'll look into those. Might be a fun thing to try out.

As for the os module, I'll try that out. I saw a thread about it somewhere not long ago...

And I've been thinking - module a day won't work - maybe module a week?

Yeah, there's a lot to cover in each module, there's no way you could cover it all in a day.

Yep. I kinda realized that when I looked through some of them.

Still haven't started yet...

Sure - I'll do it.

I also thought about writing some of the standard bash commands...

Thanks for posting this thread shadow, you have given me a great idea.
Hm. I have to get to this. I've been putting it off since I'm busy with school/IRL stuff and other projects. I'll get to the things mentioned above at some point...

Nice idea, the module crypt is an interesting one, or the socket module.

Either of them would be interesting.

I've played with sockets, but I'll definitely cover it again. The crypting does sound nice indeed.

Might as well just check out the 'requests' module. It's much simpler and readable than urllibs and json, & can achieve more.
