So like the title says I want to start a band. First off, my inspiration is Matt Bellamy because he is the lead singer, lead guitarist, and pianist. He is the reason why his band is so small because he can do all these things. Not to brag or anything, but I am a super good pianist. I make lots of good piano covers, and classically I can almost do some of the advanced stuff like those crazy Chopin stuff. I can do this because I practiced a lot and worked my way up there. Not because I have "talent". Like Matt Bellamy, I am now learning guitar which I guess is pretty quickly. I want to be a lead guitarist so I can switch off to piano too which will be another lead instrument of mine. I am learning music theory for guitar too.
So now im going into high school. And I got multiple band offers by other guitarists and some bassists because I played in the talent show. Most of the people who offered me are taking short cuts in learning guitar and have no music theory knowledge at all. Should I be in a band with them? They are good friends of mine, and I think I can encourage them into learning more advanced things instead of sticking to their tabs and chords.
Or should I just find someone, not necessarily a friend of mine, who is more into music like me? A person who has knowlage in music instead of playing random songs without knowing anything? I will be looking for a bassist, drummer, and rhythm guitarist, and singer.
As I said im going to high school, so like I might meet new friends, who are musicians. Im not planning to join a band till im decent with guitar which might take months to a year.
Also im mostly but not only into rock and metal.
