I've noticed that lots of beginners have no idea why they use a DNS. There are lots of 'RAT Setup Tutorials' but none actually explain why you should use a DNS like http://www.duckdns.org/. In this tutorial I will explain the whole reason so people will know what they are doing.
What is a DNS?
A DNS is an internet service that translates domain names into IP addresses.
An example of a DNS is: xvulnerable.ddns.net
When you build a server, you should technically enter your IP address instead of your DNS. For this example let's take 1.0.0.1 as your IP.
When a client runs your server, the server will connect to 1.0.0.1, a connection appears on your RAT.
Server.exe --> 1.0.0.1 --> Valid IP Address --> Connection Established
This is where the problems comes, routers with a dynamic IP address will change your IP every time they are restarted. So your current IP is no longer 1.0.0.1 as it now changed to 1.0.0.2. However, the server being run on your client is still connecting to your old IP which is 1.0.0.1 therefore there will be no connection due to having an invalid IP.
Server.exe --> 1.0.0.1 --> Invalid IP Address --> Connection Failed
This is where DNS comes in handy, instead of having your server connect to your IP, you will first make it to connect with your DNS, ex: mydns.dns.com and you will set your DNS to translate to your current IP address which is 1.0.0.2.
Server.exe --> mydns.dns.com --> 1.0.0.2 --> Valid IP Address --> Connection Established
I'm using a DNS and I changed my IP, what do I do?
Easy, just change the IP your DNS translates to your current IP. This can be done from your DNS provider's website.
Hopefully you have now learned what you use a DNS for, don't forget to leave feedback!
Really nice tutorial!
Helped me alot!
Nice Tut
but some time DNS not working.
Thanks for the tutorial dude ! keep it up
This is pretty obvious, if you ask me.
noip.com is a dyndns provider (Dynamic Domain Name Service). Also, you make it look like a Domain name is something else then what it is. A domain name is an alias that points to a ip. I suggest you read up a bit on the DNS. Otherwise, a good "info-tutorial".
Hq tut thanks for Sharing This Amazing detail

This, it's like saying Water is drinkable and soda is also drinkable.
Nah, at least you take time to explain, which is nice.

It may be obvious to you, but i'm sure 99% of people that I did RAT setups for have no clue.

So correct me if I'm wrong here, but if i didn't want to use a noip account. I could use a VPN and port forward with my VPN and not my router?
sorry I'm kinda new to this.

By the way, on the post it says "why you should use noip" but you actually shouldn't!" Owned by microsoft... Wouldn't take a chance.

You need a DNS server whether you're going to be portforwarding from a VPN or your router.
Yes, buy a no logs VPN with open port forwarding (preferably nVPN) and you can port forward from the VPN and not having to do a thing to your router. But you will have to connect to the VPN in order to use your RAT. Plus portforwarding from VPN is always recommended, I'd never use my router since it's easy to reverse engineer a RAT to the owner's IP. So always use a VPN not a router, it's your choice still and everything, not trying to force you to do stuff.

ok thanks now it becomes a bit clearer Michael 1947

Super helpful tutorial man, but suggest changing the recommendation from no-ip.com to DuckDNS or another, No-IP is absolutely compliant with US law now and will hand over users information without question.

Thanks for the read. 🤝
