Naruto and Naruto Shippuden?

So i want to start watching Naruto (I know im a bit late) but i dont exactly know which Naruto i should start on? Do i watchNaruto or Naruto Shippuden first to understand the story?

What is the difference?

Someone please help because i want to crack on with this series.
Naruto never had a set plot. Naruto shippuden is a set plot though.

I'd say watch Shippuden first, then watch naruto for backstory. Just like how I'd say watch FMA BH and movie THEN watch FMA and movie.

Why would you watch a sequel to the first part of the story...?

Watch Naruto first, up like 125 (not sure), because after that is filler, unless you enjoy fillers.

Then Naruto Shippueden.

Honestly I started watching Naruto first... got to about 65, then skipped to Shippuden. I haven't missed anything, as Shippuden covers everything stated and shown in the original Naruto.

Keep it mind Naruto and Naruto Shippuden is full of fillers, feel free to skip those that don't benefit the plot... however it's fantastic on most episodes. I'm currently watching the uptodate new episodes coming out, I'm up to 379 or something on Shippuden, and it's perfect.

Just keep in mind, it isn't a series you can physically watch in a single weekend, it has about 500 or so episodes 20 minutes long each... and about 8 or so hour long special featured movie episodes.

Okay thankyou so much for your post i'll start of with Naruto then i guess. And i might actually watch the fillers if i do start enjoying them.
