File format Issue

Hey HF,

Since this is to do with file formats, I thought I would post it here.

Right, Well my TV takes USB right, So I can play movies straight from the USB how ever the file format is the issue.

So far the only format I have got to work is .ts. As you know .TS takes up a lot off space. For a 90 minute film, its size in .ts is 9GB.

My TV doesn't support the following;

AVI
MP4
.mkv

They are the ones I have tried.

Instead of converting all my files to .TS(which takes forever). Is there any other file formats I can try which will still give me a good quality?

Thanks.
I would save myself the hussle and buy something like a Google Chromecast for 35 bucks.

Just google it then, and they look excellent! I may purchase one right away.
Good app for chromecast to watch almost any format is "videostream" encodes files on the fly so that chromecast can play them, If you have a half decent Pc/laptop should work ok as mine has a Core2duo 3Ghz and plays most files without buffering unless they are HD movies, But saying that It could be a network bottleneck rather than cpu

I have 3 Chromecasts, their so cheap. But I think their more hassle than what their worth.

It seems almost anytime an app updates, you lose the icon to send the media to the chromecast. The issue is more present with certain apps like Netflix. Usually takes about 15 mins of troubleshooting re installing crap and re booting everything just to get that icon back. Happens on my Tab 3 and a Nexus 7.

It works great being controlled from a laptop. The desktop mirroring is a bit laggy and not easy to use.
