I'm trying to work out some method to cause the PC Speaker to "beep!", via Remote Desktop.
Just to be clear, by PC Speaker, I mean the little speaker inside the actual computer chassis... I want this to be audible at the remote location.

This task ought to be easy but it's turning out to be way more complicated than I anticipated. For a start, the modern version of "beep.sys" seems to send the beep to the sound card, rather than the PC Speaker.

Can anyone recommend a method of doing this?

The speaker inside the PC far as i know only control by BIOS and use for P.O.S.T beeps like P.O.S.T failed or has passed.

I'm pretty sure you can't let it beep using Windows. The speaker you are talking about is for the BIOS, if there are any errors it will beep.

Seriously though, we here at HackForums with the capability to hack the Pentagon are collectively unable to make the PC Speaker go "Beep"?
This MUST be possible somehow.. :P

I've heard that in Windows XP (x86) and previous, beep.sys sent the beep to the PC Speaker instead of the audio card.
Thus far I've had no luck with transferring an old version of beep.sys onto a Windows 7 OS, but I've read of others having success with this method.
