Back housing for Iphone 4

Whats up you guys, i recently ordered a rear housing cover for my Iphone 4 GSM and i'm assuming they sent an Iphone 4s housing cover. When i tried to install it, of course it didn't fit and since i was in a pinch for time, i tired to modify the part to make it fit. Yes i know im an idiot. By a quick annalis, i thought the only thing that was different was a single peg and if simply cut it off, it would work. Maybe not be as supportive, but it would have worked. So i proceeded to cut off one of the pegs.

This peg:

After trying to install it again, i found that all of the pegs were in slightly different positions and it would not work.

What was the purpose of this peg? How important was it? Is it important enough for me to weld another bit of plastic on to make it work?

Thanks you guys. 👍
I personally don't know, but I would advise you post this in the correct section, this section is for Macs and OS X. Here's a link to the iDevices section Apple iOS
