OMC

Mining On Phones....

So, I don't know much about this, haven't read up on anything on google, but hope somebody can get me an answer.

Basically my uncle works @ verizon, and we have about 20 unused smart phones lying around the house, could I setup a miner on all of them and mine an Alt Coin with very low difficulty, would it be worth it if I left them on all day.

I mean I got a few notes, galaxies, androids, iphones, etc,.

So 20 smart phones mining for 12 hours. If I were to mine OMC, how much would I expect a day?
With 20 high-end ARM phones you'll probably reach 100 KH/s. That's the equivalent of a middle-class graphics card (NVidia 580/670/760/860 and the likes).

100 KH/s each phone, or that would be combined aprox.?

Combined I think.

And this could work, but idk how u'd get the phones working with that easily

It would not be worth it at all, that'd be equivalent to mining .08-.1 LTC a day. So that means, if I were to run the miners for 10 days straight I'd only make $3.

So a phone would yield about 5Kh/s depending on which one you use? That's interesting to know.
interesting stuff but wow I never realized how hard it wwas to mine the stuff :/
ARM devices are not very efficient when it comes to computationally expensive tasks like coin mining. With most coins, you won't make enough to even cover the power costs. You might be able to find some alternate algorithm coins that would be worth it, but I can't guarantee that there will be proper miners for the phones. Also, it depends a lot on if you're talking about iPhones, Androids, or Windows Phones. Androids are the only ones I've seen that can be used for mining without significant work modifying the firmware. (E.g. Jailbreaking)

Still here sometimes.

Some dude tried it out on several high end phones some time ago. They're usually in the range of 3-8 KH/s each.
In conclusion, no, I really don't think it's worth the effort.

I belive they were all Android devices, but iPhones have a smaller processor so I wouldn't expect it to outperform the Androids. The high end of Nokia Lumia usually has about the same specs as just-below-flagship Androids.
I have mined on my phone before, and I was getting around 9KH/s. Around 1.9-3 KH/s per core (Quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300). This was last year when this CPU was one of the best.

Blues pool never updated saying it could see it though, and my phone would become unusable while mining. The screen seemed like it was only updating once every 5-10 seconds.

Nah, it takes a long time with these hashrates. Blame the burst miners for making me set the starting difficulty this high.
If you have multiple phones it shouldn't be a problem. Just gather all the phones on a stratum proxy to make them work together on the shares.
