First of all, you go to Hostgator and sign up for an affiliate account:
www(dot)hostgator.com/affiliates
I can't post links so replae (dot) with .
Then go to Craigslist and start posting up: "Free websites - need some reputation for new startup". In the body of the ad, just basically say that you are a new startup and need some reputation and a portfolio to show future clients. Also say that they need to pay for hosting - this is vital because that's where we make the money.
When you get a couple of emails or calls, which happens within a day at least, then ask them basic information like address, name, etc. Download a wordpress theme and just edit the things. It literally takes 30 or so minutes once you get the hang of it.
Then send them your hosting link and you get your commission from Hostgator. The best thing is that the more people you sign up, the more money you get.
Like I said, it does require some effort. This isn't some cheapskate ebook that promises hundreds of dollars without any effort.
If you are really feeling lazy, you can outsource the website for $30 on some internet marketing forums or freelancer. If you want to do this, PM me and I'll be glad to help you.
If you do this for 5 cities once a day, then you can get at least 4-5 orders a week. Wonders are limitless with a handy VPN.
That's it. If you do just 10 orders a month, that's $750. Easy, easy, easy ass money.

I've made quite a bit of money off of this. Not going to name specifics, but its good.
Hostgator converts well due to really low prices.
And their basic plans offer any small business needs.
I did promote them on years back domain data analytics web and they where bringing commission 40 or 50$ per sale (also my traffic where mostly people from domaining) and they've probably bought some higher plans.
What I love about methods like this is that they are completly noobfriendly and is real business model (you provide traffic and sales - real busines to real advertiser with real products).
It beats 95% of free or paid e-books on HF because it works and will work tomorrow and even after 50 years (different websites but similar model).
Also method like this is easy to execute, it's really easy to do some tasks even between classlessons (good for younger HF members) and you can scale it or find different service with affiliate program or different websites to promote.
One more suggestion: If you're promoting Hostgator (or anything else), DON'T forget to promote it with data you have (for example Hostgator: 4500 templates)
So for the Craigslist part of this, we are saying that we are developers and need people to build reputation? Or what are we portraying ourselves as? I'm guess I'm kind of confused on that part of it.
Staff will never reach out to you off-site. We only communicate on HF.
Won't the clients be kind of mad considering they're getting a shabby website that probably looks like a 10 year old made it?
Just a potential flaw I can see.

Well you could setup or create a decent theme, it is all up to the effort you put in to make it look good. But yes, I could see some people having a LQ looking site, shouldn't hurt it too badly.

You don't understand the potential of Wordpress. Wordpress themes are professionally developed, all you have to do is fill in the blanks like Contact page, home page, etc etc. It looks like a kick ass professional site.

Did you ever read thread before replying?
Hostgator alone have gazillion themes.
This thread alone isn't about selling nice supercool webdesign. It's about getting affiliate commission from Hostgator.
The idea here is good, nice thinking outside the box!
Thanks a lot for contributing! 🤝

Thank you very much. Also, do we give them our affiliate link after they come in contact with us? Or put it in the Craigslist post?

Yea, when they email you, tell them that the site has to be live or they won't do it because potential clients can't see the site. It's only like $4 for a month, and the first month is completely free using a code Hostgator gives you.
@R3actor: Glad you liked it! And thanks for the reputation points!
