&action=newpost on search.php

[Image: dgsO4.png]
Sorry for bad quality and size

Please add this to the search.php page. I use it 100 times daily when I'm using my tablet or desktop, but when I'm using my phone, I constantly have to:
Your Posts -> Find the post -> Press my post (the last link) -> Find the last unread post myself.

I have an userscript for this installed on all machines, and I've been using it for over two years, but this has started to annoy me when I'm using my phone.

This is literally the same, as when you're browsing the forum or viewing UserCP.

Please add this, Omniscient. I will love you forever.
Yeah this would be nice actually..
Would be great to have this implemented imo 🤝
Since I haven't gotten more responses to this... Was it too hard to understand what I want with this?
I actually want this too, as I to do this a lot.
So you're looking to see what you posted on that has gotten replies since your last post? If that's the case it would be nice to see. Have you published this userscript? If this suggestion is not accepted I would love to get the userscript for myself.

It's basically the same as on user cp, threads, etc.

User CP:

Your Threads:

Any forum:

But it's not on Your Posts. I use HFES with this enabled under 'Other':

I agree, it would be a beneficial addition to the search function. I've wanted this many a time myself.

I'd like to see the code on your userscript to see what you're running. I just have a feeling that your userscripts are responsible for a lot of bullshit overhead on the server resources.

You should be telling MyBB to change how their search function works. I'm only going to do so much custom coding to the core code. I personally don't think they hear enough from users of their software how it can be improved. They don't enhance existing features very well and instead have worked to add buggy and security poor new features.

I'm almost positive that the change you want would require a core edit which I'm not willing to do.
I think what Snorlax wants, is the little arrow that takes you to your last unread post.
And if it is, then you only need to add a tiny bit of code (like one line really) to a template.

PHP Code

<?php
<tr>
<
td align="center" class="{$bgcolor}" width="2%"><img src="{$theme['imgdir']}/{$folder}.gif" alt="{$folder_label}" title="{$folder_label}" /></td>
<
td align="center" class="{$bgcolor}" width="2%">{$icon}</td>
<
td class="{$bgcolor}">{$gotounread}{$thread['displayprefix']}<a href="{$thread['threadlink']}" class="{$new_class}">{$thread['subject']}</a><br /><span class="smalltext">{$thread['author']}</span></td>
<
td align="center" class="{$bgcolor}"><a href="javascript:MyBB.whoPosted({$thread['tid']});">{$thread['replies']}</a></td>
<
td align="center" class="{$bgcolor}">{$thread['views']}</td>
<
td class="{$bgcolor}" style="white-space: nowrap"><span class="smalltext">{$lastpostdate} {$lastposttime}
<
br /><a href="{$thread['lastpostlink']}">{$lang->lastpost}</a>: {$lastposterlink}</span>
</
td>
</
tr>

More specifically :
<td class="{$bgcolor}">{$gotounread}{$thread['displayprefix']}<a href="{$thread['threadlink']}" class="{$new_class}">{$thread['subject']}</a><br /><span class="smalltext">{$thread['author']}</span></td>

I would like to know how any of my userscripts create "bullshit overhead on the server resources".
None of my userscripts create any additional page loads, except a few which loads a page with the click of a button.
None of them send any requests. It's all client side, which you would know if you looked at the code.

Now, this idea can be done either with Javascript or PHP. I don't have the code at the moment since I am on my phone, but I just had to reply to what you said.
Besides, I didn't create the userscript for it. It's included in Emylbus' HFES userscript and I believe Xerotic's HFUP userscript as well.

As far as I remember from looking at the userscripts, all it does, is look for a new post on the Your Posts search.php page, then add the small arrow (just a character, not an image) and link it to the post and add &action=newpost
It is really that simple, and Viral Dragon already gave an example of the markup code.

But I will send the userscript code from Emylbus' userscript in a PM if you close this, otherwise I will add it to this post when I get to school.

I am not sure if you're mad at me, but I really want to know which of my userscripts send these massive amount of requests. I think logical when I create them, just so I don't piss you off by sending shitload of requests.

I will post the one I made and have been using for years.

PHP Code

<?php
$("img[src*='folder'][src*='new']").each(function(i) {
    var
$current = $(this).parent().next().next().children().first();

$current.prepend('<a href="showthread.php?tid=' + $current.html().match(/tid\=(\d*)/)[1] + '&amp;action=newpost" title="Go to first unread post" class="quick_jump">?</a>');
});

Simply put, when you click on "Your Posts" and similar pages it will add the arrow to automatically link to the latest post in the thread (by referencing the folder image name). 100% client side.

Dang yeah, I was just about to post yours. I couldn't find Emylbus', but he has the option for it.
Here is yours with good formatting and correct "button": https://puu.sh/dnfe1.txt

As said, this adds no extra load on the server.

Right, the question mark in mine is just a place holder for the actual button. I don't think we can post the actual symbol here. I may have also used an HTML entity at some point for it.

I appreciate it, Adam. This is still very annoying when browsing on PCs without userscripts, phones, tablets, et cetera.
Right now I press on the forum next to the post, then I find the thread and I press the ► icon.
It takes a bit longer.. but it's the only option I have. Well it's not.. I can copy the link to the thread and add &action=newpost to it, but it's faster to just browse for the thread.
It would be useful but it would be hard to implement.
