Very basic tips to stay safe from rats/viruses (recommended for newcomers)

Obviously there is not a 100% guarantee that you wont get a virus but these are very basic tips to keep in mind while on this or any other forum or even on the internet. Now I'm not sure if this post will seem useless to some people but I think this is info worth giving to some newcomers because I'm also quite new here and I have learned a few things about forums which I should pass on. Anyways what I want to say is not all "Virus" detectors really do what they promise and they don't detect Trojan if its FUD (Fully Undetectable) or even sometimes UD (Undetectable) so I just want to let you know some people on this forum or even other forums may try to install a R.A.T on your computer (not saying it happens VERY often) but what I recommend is that check how many vouches and how much reputation the OP (original poster) has. Now this may seem obvious but the thing is many newcomers do believe that if they download a bunch of these programs that they will become "hackers" right away or they are so desperate for programs that they fall for it. I just want to point out that reputation and vouches matter ALOT. Also make sure you click on his reputation number so you can see why people chose to give him positives and make sure to pay mind to the NEGATIVES as well. Or even if its not on a forum make sure you find out the posters overall reputation like how well is he known, how many people vouch for him, etc. Another thing is you need to keep in mind downloading a bunch of programs claiming to be hacking tools does not right off the bat make you a hacker so also use common sense like why would this person be giving out such a useful program out for free?, do you really need this software?, and does this program even seem reasonable/possible? I guarantee you that the majority of generators are viruses and if they aren't they just don't work all they probably do is display whatever information the programmer put on them (Which might not even be true) I guarantee you that you won't find things like working credit card generators... Another thing is that these popups you get like java or flash is outdated NEVER trust them if it isn't an official website for java or flash it is definitely just someone trying to plant a virus on your computer. Once again sorry if this seems useless to you but I really thing newcomers or even people who aren't sure about how malware, viruses, and rats work should keep this in mind. Anyways thanks for taking the time to read this, bye!
Nice idea for a thread.

But maybe you should bring some structure in:
Quote:Title

sub-title
_____text_________text_____
____

sub-title____
...
And of course also some graphics. :)

And as reference to the content, reputation doesn't mean anything at 90% of the users.
Most of the time the reputation is bought.
'Smooth transaction', 'Thanks for the BTC', '...'; All signs of bought reputation points. :)

The real reference to see if someone can be trusted is to take a look at the post content.
People with rep 1000+ still sometimes scams on HF here.

Besides that, still a good thing you try to warn people here. :)

Well, pretty nice Tips. Still, you may wanna lookout for an better look ;)
To be honest this should be posted in the Hacking Tools and Programs section since its more of a message for the noobs that goes there, not here. They come here after they get infected, not before.
Fiat justitia ruat cælum

My era of providing technical support and malware removal on HackForums is over, so you can stop PM'ing me about it. Sorry.
