Titans // <span style="color: gold">Web Developer</span> Recruitment

Titans is looking for web developers who have a lot of experience and knows a wide range of languages which are used for making websites/web applications. Recruitment applications get boring and don't show your skill or creativity so we will be hosting a contest for all the web developers out there who meet our needs.

You MUST know(Not fluently, just enough):
  • HTML(5 Preffered)
  • CSS(3 Preferred)
  • jS
  • PHP
Extra languages(Optional but a +1 if you know any of them):
  • jQuery(jS)
  • Python
  • Java
  • Flash
  • Unity 3D(Game Engine)
If you know the 'MUST know' languages above, continue to read.

Objective:
Design and create a working website for Titans.

Rules:
  • You may not use anyone else's work;
  • You may not use any templates, front-end framework(Bootstrap, etc.), pre-made stylesheets(CSS/LESS/SASS), and anything else that is NOT your own work;
  • You CAN use CSS and jS resources that allow you to do animations or something similar to that. These resources must be open-source as well, no need to pay for something extra. You still cannot use pre-made stylesheets. Ex. animate.css or wow.js
  • You may not use previous work of yours, must be from scratch(obviously your coding for some parts will be the same, but as long as you didn't C&P, that's fine).
*As you can hopefully tell, we just want to see your skill without the need of using someone else's code to make the website look 'pretty'.
Required Materials:
  • Home Page
    • About Section
    • News/Announcements Section
  • Members Page
    • A list of members
    • Buttons to profile link, Skype ID Add, etc

You may add more pages as you deem fit, this should be your own custom website, I don't want to impose any restrictions. Feel free to put a projects page, contact us page, anything relative. You may also use filler text(Lorem Ipsum, Fake Names, etc.) for when you don't know what text to put.

Any questions, just contact me and I will help you to the best I can.

Picking a Winner:
We will be voting within the group for the coders who should be recruited based on a few criterias:
  • Design
  • Ease of Use
  • Speed and Loading Times(All entry websites will be on the same server and tested through that - Many images vs. CSS3 affects load times)
  • Code Source(Code Organization like indenting, method usage like <link rel> vs. @import)
  • Features of the website(Responsive, smooth transitions, etc)

We may also make a public vote, which if made, will allow us to pick between ties or uncertain applicants.

On top of all of this, we will still look at your profile and make sure you are a member who meets our standards. If you win, you will earn a spot into Titans but you will need to contribute. You will be asked to code a Photoshop designed website for us, very basic, nothing heavy.

Applying:
Code your website and .zip your files together and upload to a website like Zippyshare or MEGA. You can then PM me the website along with a screenshot of the website if you're able to do so.

We will end the contest when we feel as we have had enough entries. You don't need to overdo this, just show us that you're capable of coding a website and have the skill and creativity to make something good.

Good Luck!

Good luck with applications. Personally, i wouldn't do this because any decent developer knows that this is not worth the time. Considering you want everything custom. If you find a decent developer to do this for you (basically for free), then god knows you have been blessed.

Custom? So a professional developer copy and pastes and comes up with a website? We want to see your coding skill, not copy and paste skill. And it doesn't have to be something advanced, minimum 2 pages. The rest is up to you, it's basic and shouldn't take you too long.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope Titans is successful and I wish you luck.

How well must we know JS? I know some, but I can't use it perfectly without googling some.

PM me and I'd like to privately apply.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's just a huge competition. I don't feel like competing for anything.

You don't need to be an expert in all of the languages, you just need to know a good enough to edit or code something. Googling is fine, everyone googles when they code.

Fixed OP, won't be just one "winner" but multiple "winners".

Not qualified completely myself to apply but I would strongly advise looking into the member Crypto™.

I would change it to front-end frameworks instead of frameworks in general. Not allowing the use of Mithril or other frameworks and the only effects you'll find will be performance decreases.

Sorry, meant front-end only. Thank you for notifying me.

Lol, did you really just try to use HTML in your thread title?

I'm sure it was put in the title as a pun :)
I really suggest you take advantage of this, big projects are in the works and you'll regret it if you're not taking part in it!

It's more like the applicants are taken advantage of. A responsive, full fledged site without any front-end frameworks because OP probably doesn't know you can style them. If I can't even use normalize.css or w/e I'd charge 1k+ for something like this. If multiple real webdevelopers would apply that'd mean they would work for a period without any reward, maybe a membership in a fancy group.
