Should I waste any time doing something I don't enjoy?

IDF IS MANDATORY! i didn't sign up for this shit
So I was assigned to a role I do not want in the army after my 4 month course.
I'm competent to perform 2 different roles that I was taught in the course (Both are completely different) and after the course I got assigned the a role I absolutely despise.

Should I do everything I can in order to change my role which could even get me to go to military jail for a while or should I suck it up and do shit I hate for the next 3 years?
Do the prat that "change my role" does. New roles are always nice. Goodluck my friend 🎉
You signed up for the military and had to be aware that there you'd probably have to do things you didn't want to. Make the effort to get your role changed but do NOT slack at the role you despise. If you do that role well while asking to be transferred you may have a chance at it but doing it poorly will only get you in shit. Don't be a sad fuck that gets kicked out of the military or a deserter, you'll be treated as garbage your entire life.

Israeli military is mandatory I definitely did not sign up for this shit lmao, If I could have gotten kicked out I would have done it ages ago
3 years mandatory service
What's military jail like? After the 3 year assignment, could they then assign you to the same thing again?

after 3 years I'm getting the fuck out of there and become a civillian again
military jail isn't far worse than the current conditions I'm in

I'm working from 8:00 to 22:00 or 10:00 to 00:00 and the living conditions suck there; only 1 shower in the base, small rooms, everyone who is in my room has different shifts than me which means that even if I go to sleep at 00:00 someone can come at 2 am which will wake me up and another one will wake up at 7:30 which would also wake me up
Army is an army, it looks good on your resume, doesn't matter what area you join.
Suck it up, don't whiny about it, kill some Palestinian people or whatever your little army does.
Don't walk back with a tail between your legs.

could you guys fucking read? IT'S MANDATORY it doesn't look good in my resume, it looks NORMAL
What is the likelihood of you going to Military Jail? If you can make the switch with a low risk, I'd say go for it.

You think the army accepts retards who can't lead fucking teams when their leader gets their head blown off?
Also don't be a little bitch. "Omg I didn't get the role I wanted, now I'll be a rebellious teenager and refuse to be a man and do the job."
Lol TheNakedEmperor, ignore all these people judging. If they have been in the same position as you and had to do mandatory service at a job they hated, then fair enough for them telling you to "suck it up", otherwise just brush it off bro. I assume that you are already doing everything in your power that is legal to change roles. I would advise against doing anything illegal for although having been in the military is normal for your resume, I gather being in military jail will put you at a disadvantage for your future which is a hell of a lot longer than 3 years. Good luck to you, hope they change it. If they not, then as others said, do the best you can and let's hope the 3 years pass by as quick as they can. Easier said than done I know. But hey, life can be a bitch.

I'm an actual reservist for the Dutch army. I get called up to do some random tasks once in a while.
I do them because it looks good on my resume. "I worked for the army for a while."
They see that you're a leader, which employers desire in employees.

But is your military service mandatory? If it was, then fair enough. For the OP, his service is mandatory. If you volunteered, you chose to be in a position where you sometimes were assigned to task you might not enjoy. The OP didn't choose this so these are slightly different situations. I agree that he should try his best, but I feel some of the comments are harsh. I would certainly be pissed if I was assigned to something I did not want or choose to do. And as he said, service is mandatory so it doesn't look good on their resume, it looks normal.

Your problem is that you live in Israel.
Move elsewhere.
