So whats up with the current thread design trend around here? I'm not talkin trash, just observing. The thread designs being made here really are very good, but the trends have become so common that they all look homogeneous to some extent. Don't know what I'm talking about? The majority, if not close to 80% of thread designs here follow the same formulas - a banner at the top with a largely irrelevant stock image (usually in black and white), minimalist (although very clean) approach. This minimalist approach is basically solid color backgrounds, usually white or grey with a thin, contrasting text over top describing the service. Throw in some pricing columns and smaller vector graphics and you have your typical thread design.
Again, i'm not talking trash cause these designs do look good, but where's the differentiation? Where's the style where when you see a design, you can automatically tell which service designed it? Know what I'm gettin at?

^ Truth.
Majority of services from the threads don't really focus on their presentation, only their income, so they all go to the same person who makes free thread designs and it all ends up looking the same. I like this system, because then when you see a thread design made by someone like Antidot you know that the seller is serious and here to stay.

I have to agree a lot of the threads look the same.
It's always been this way, but it has gotten worse with the whole minimalistic flat trend. At least before you had to have some knowledge of photoshop, now it's just shape tools, text, and premade icons.

exactly my point of view. It hardly takes half our to make something like that.. to make something like that you don't need to have a lot of knowledge.
I can't wait till this phase passes. Like all trends it'll pass, just going to take some time because even major marketing companies & business firms use that these days use the same strategies (Apple for example). I look forward to when real design elements make a legitimate return.

Apple's design's aren't really, by definition, flat. They're definitely flatter but I wouldn't call it flat design. It's a unique style that I've come to appreciate in recent years.
We're at a day and age where information is vastly abundant, the ideology right now is introducing the need for simpler iconography/design in order to not overload users with information. Things were previously skeuomorphism because computers were relatively new at the time and needed a touch of reality for users to understand. However now, we're so used to these icons/symbols that there is no more need for it to be realistic.
Not available for work at this time. Apologies for any inconveniences.
