Password Combination?

Hi HF,
I don't know if I'm correct here. So can someone please correct? I was trying to expalin to my friend how it'd be virtually impossible to crack a password just by knowing how many "characters" and how long it would take to "crack" a specific password. Can someone please read my last comment and see if I am correct? If im wrong can someone correct me so I don't sound stupid? Thanks!
