Visit below url link to find out how to format a write-protected USB Flash Drive.

"Remove write-protection from your USB drive or SD card"
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/storag...r-sd-card/
You can also use hdd low level format tool. It should work
Have tried both ways but it aint work. :/
Try this:

For USB drives:

1. Open Start -> Run...
2. type diskmgmt.msc and press ente
3. right click on the partitin you want to format (where the leter and size is)
4. select 'Delete Partition...' and confirm
5. right mose button in the same place and select 'Create partition'
6. select primary partition
6. select size, file forma, disk leter, label etc should be all right if you leave defaults.
7. click ok

This will recreat the partition and format it in proper way. Helped me and will help to most of you if you have problem with MBR.

Tried both ways. The onliest thing left is to reprogram the microcontroller on my usb.
Boot into linux and use GParted Partitioner.

As others have suggested, format via linux then windows.

You followed my instructions and it still says write protected?

What model is the USB drive? and are you sure there is no Write protect physical switch?

Making a brand new partition should have eradicated any settings the USB had.
