I hope this is the correct section for this, couldn't see anywhere better suited.
Basically, whenever I play any game on my computer (mostly CS:GO and LoL), I get incredibly rapid and frequent ping spikes. I have fine internet speeds and unlimited data. It seems to happen more often when my brother is also on the internet (all he does is play CS:GO/LoL like me, doesn't download etc - I know it's not that).
I've noticed when I go on my Xbox, this lag also happens in FIFA and other online games. I checked my NAT type on my Xbox and it says strict. Could this be the issue? I know there's hundreds of guides/videos on how to change your NAT type for consoles, but could this be my PC gaming issue too? How to fix?
Thanks for all replies.

I've heard of good results about this software. https://www.wtfast.com/

Sounds pretty good, downloading now and checking it out.

Let me know what sort of improvements you get! :)
If you use WIFI then this may be the problem.
If not try to restart your router/modem.

Only tried it for 15 minutes as I gotta go out in a min, but I didn't go over 100 ping once. Looks good so far, if it continues I'm gonna purchase the premium version.

What's the difference between the two?

I don't know tbh. All I know is that I didn't ping spike once when using it. Again, it was only 15 minutes though and I'll try it again when I get home. Thanks for the share mate!

Using WTFast, your essentially playing over a VPN. Their servers might be closer to the gaming server your playing on, but that doesn't mean your ping would be any better. Now you need to connect to their servers before the gaming server, which could make your base ping a little higher. Every time i have tried playing a game over a VPN, it has made my connection worse. But to each, their own. People are also saying in the steam reviews, it is possible to get banned from some games using this or any program like it. I personally wouldn't recommend it, and they are also trying to buy positive reviews on steam.

I won't be using it anymore if that's the case. It didn't fix my ping spikes anyway, just used it again for an hour or so. I don't know what else to try, I've called my ISP 3 times and they've said everything should be fine every time. I've even changed lines.
I use WiFi yeah, the router is approx. 18 meters away from my computer and I get full bars of signal. My router is a Technicolor TG587n v3 (no idea if it's shit or not). I was going to put the router in my room and connect to my computer straight through a cord but I don't have a phone point in my room to connect it to. If it will help, I'll spend the money and get a phone point put in my room but I want to be sure it'll fix my problem before I do it.
Is my router good? Should I invest in a phone point in my room so I don't have to use WiFi?

Yes. Playing over Ethernet rather than WiFi will lead to a more stable connection. If you are able to, try moving your computer closer to router so you can test out the direct connection before you spend money putting a phone line in your room.
Earlier, I noticed that you said your NAT type was strict on Xbox. You can also try port forwarding for the games that you play. You can find out what ports they use by googling it.

Just have the Ethernet cable running through my house? Setting up port forwarding now, hope it helps.
and do you use a router if yes, then please specify the router used and try connecting it straight to the internet and see if the problem is solved.
Yeah I tried WTFast Client and it didn't change my performance.
I have the exact same problem, in Cs:go as well
