Truecrypt is Safe

Truecrypt audit has been completed and it is still safe to use unless you really, really have something to hide. You can read about it here http://blog.cryptographyengineering.com/...eport.html

Nice, thank you for this. Does this audit count for the latest version or just 7.1a?
Yeah but they did find vulnerabilities in it plus its kinda buggy so TrueCrypt is pretty much useless now since there are other solutions that are 10x better than this program.

Not true. I've done IT work at a couple hospitals that have used TrueCrypt on there drives. And one Financial firm that I seen used TrueCrypt. Granted I'm sure none of the were aware of the Bugs obviously.. However they were using it none the less. I'm sure many companies still use it today. That being said with it being discontinued I'm sure people will start moving on from it.
More help is always apppreciated please trying to get NOT into trouble

What are you talking about man? ❓
Yup, just as I expected. Although this does make the Truecrypt takedown even more worrying... Like the NSA siezed the site or something.

Could you recommend something that is better/ instead of truecrypt?

I have seen TC still being used in IT departments.

I think 7.1a was the last fully working version, 7.2 was only there to decrypt drives and to fully mitigate the use of TC.
I don't see the point in any crypt software anymore.
I've heard if you do get swatted and they take your PCs, they can get a legal form which will require you to hand over your passwords else you face jailtime or something similar. Can they do this?

It probably depends on the country, but it would be harsh. Where was this?

I'm no expert by far, but I also think that a fully encrypted external drive when connected to a PC, looks just like an empty drive. e.g. Windows ask every time to reformat it. But I guess they could prove it with lie detector or similar...

I doubt the feds would need a lie detector on your ass to find that out.
If you crypt an external drive, they'll still see it's full of "random" data.
Then I'm pretty sure they can look a little more and figure out you used any software to crypt it.

From that point forward, they don't care which one it is, they'll want the master key and/or the password.
And yes, the cops are allowed to force you. I saw that in the US and western Europe.
If you don't cooperate, you can get several years of jail etc.

False it against your constitutional rights to be forced to give out a password https://www.eff.org/issues/know-your-rights#17 also this was for version 7.1a that the audit was done.
