My hard drive wiped itself | Need to recover files.

Hi HF.

Last week, I was on my laptop, turned it off and went to sleep. I woke up, and it said it had no OS installed on the Hard Drive. Anyway, so took it to PC repair shop, and he gave me it back with Windows on it.

I know this is a long shot, and may be impossible, but is it possible to recover files that was on the System before the HD wiped itself? I had over £4,000 worth off value in files, and it is crucial I get these files back.

Is it possible, or would I have to pay someone to do it(I don't mind paying up to $50, but I really need them files back).

Thanks.
No it's not impossible. The only thing I can recommend is buying a cable like this and plugging your HDD into your new computer via USD and seeing if it picks anything up. It should automatically mount it as an external HDD where you will be able to see the whole C:/ that is on the HDD.

Here is the cable (Click to View)

Here is what it looks like with HDD plugged in (OS: K is the HDD) (Click to View)

Good luck OP, If I helped message me for my BTC or PP address. You can get one of these cables at best buy for like $25, that's where I got mine. 🤝

EDIT: And what this user said.

HDD did not format it self the computer was formatted by PC tech you can use file recovery software's like Recuva and PhotoRec to try recovering some of your personal files.

Tried that. I can't understand all the file names, so I can't found what I'm looking for.
