Spoiler for HUGE Images - or Post Deny for Large Images

This has been suggested before - most recently about 2 years ago though. It would be purposeful to have a plugin that auto-creates a spoiler around an image larger than a certain x dimension. This would not interfere with thread designs since it is their y dimension that makes them practical.

Rather than just being a cool gadget, I feel it would add to the overall experience of the forum.

Alternatively, attempting to post an image that is too wide could also just cause an error to be thrown, saying it is too large for the forum and to please resize it.

I'd love to here what the Mentors or Omni has to say on this rather than "its been suggested before /close", because I haven't seen a real explanation for why this hasn't been implemented other than that.

Thanks for reading!

I agree with this, I hate when images are to large on a thread.

Also staff don't need an explanation for denying a suggestion.
Anyone HQ would just use the IMG tags to resize the image or they could just edit it in GIMP, photoshop or even paint. It just noobs that don't do this so if they want to make their post less HQ then let them. I admit, this is a good idea but it's work to help other peoples negligence.

Good idea man. I just feel it's an addition that isn't really needed since it's easy to fix. Also, if you wanted it in a spoiler so badly someone with knowledge could just put it straight into a spoiler by typing [spoiler] [/spoiler ] without the space of course.

There's a myBB plugin which re-sizes every image. This could work. 🤝

I agree that HQ members would do this by themselves, but HQ members would also prefer that it doesn't happen at all.

I just think its enough of an issue to be addressed while there are ways around it.

I could whip up a Userscript that automatically resizes and/or puts images in spoilers if they're larger than a certain percent of the page if you wanted.

If the suggestion gets denied, that would be beautiful, and I think widely used.

I agree in a perfect world that it should be added but there is better things to be done than this. I just feel that Omni has a lot to do with looking after these forums and work like this isn't really needed. Yet again, I could be talking out my ass because it could take 2 seconds to add as I don't know much about forum coding. This is just my opinion, may not be fact.

I'll do it in the morning if this suggestion is denied.
Here you are: http://mods.mybb.com/view/fit-on-page

Simple, efficient, beautiful.
It's not realistic for a few reasons related to logistics.

Sorry but denied.
