Man I wish I could root this new phone I just bought 4 days back... nothing seems to work on it..yet anyway. It's a Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE (Boost Mobile) - I have yet to find anything that works on it :(

...However, this is a great thread that will help many users ;)
It does NOT root every phone, it depends on the OS. There are some phones out that don't have a root for the current operating system. Some 5.0+ phones don't have roots yet, like my Verizon Note 4

Here u go sir... copied froman android forum
1. On your pc, download odin v 3.07

2. On your pc, download current drivers for the phone from samsung's website.

3. On your pc, download cf's auto-root for the Samsung SM-G530BT from http://download.chainfire.eu/663/CF...Ro...g530bt.zip

4. run odin on your pc.

5. Select the tar file you downloaded in step 3 from the dropdown list.

6. On your phone, Turn on usb debugging in developer options menu. (To access deV options go to about phone in settings menu and click the build number 5 times )

7. Plug your phone into your pc and allow usb debug authorization when it pops up.

8. Boot your phone in odin mode. (Home+Vol down+power button) make sure its still plugged in

9. On your pc, select pda flash option in odin, make sure you have the correct md5 file, then sit back and let the software do its thing. BE PATIENT and let the phone reboot, my phone rebooted 3 times. Do not be alarmed by the yellow letters on the screen. They will go away after final reboot, and supersu will be installed.
Thank you for this :) I'll try it out now!
Can anyone help me I'm trying to root the Sony XZ2
I recommend anyone checking out a root tutorial for their specific phone, rather than just using a tool that may or may not work. The consequences is time spent figuring out how to undo your screwup, if it's possible.
Yes well, some phones (for eg with mediatech precessor HTC) don't have any specific root method and do not support expose framework, for them this will be the method.
Won't work with my phone...

Iv even tried doing it manually by adb pushing su and busybox over from console and linux shell

I can root it using the adb push method and gain a administrative adb console through the Linux shell

My issue is my mobile carrier "MobilePC" has a custom bootload configuration

It was a pain just to enable usb debugging lol I used the pdanet apk to enable its default debugge

But still I cant get the phone to boot into restore mode or flash install mode

Its boot loading configuration has blocked that option all together...

Even odin is useless for me without being able to get out of this boot lock

Doesn't much matter though if there is something I wish my phone to do I simply create software to do it or compile a arm binary version and run that through a privilege directory

Lol ^^^

You mean boot in recovery/flash image install mode

And those are the correct buttons for most phones but not all

Some its just the power and volume some its that for a few seconds release and buttons again while booting so two sets of button holding..

Also some mobile carriers like "mobilePCs" are blocking the stock recovery/flash image install mode at boot startup...

Like me for example... I cant go into this mode because my carrier has deleted that option all together from the boot sector

I could edit the boot configuration with adb but I cant save it when im done because of access rights on the mounted partition... So point blank im screwed
Yeah, you could also instal Cynogrnmod Recovery and with root access go there manually...
