Help cure cancer by donating some of your (idle) CPU power

This is hosted by IBM and you can basically donate some of your idle CPU power.

"World Community Grid enables anyone with a computer, smartphone or tablet to donate their unused computing power to advance cutting-edge scientific research on topics related to health, poverty and sustainability. Through the contributions of over 650,000 individuals and 460 organizations, World Community Grid has supported 24 research projects to date, including searches for more effective treatments for cancer, HIV/AIDS and neglected tropical diseases. Other projects are looking for low-cost water filtration systems and new materials for capturing solar energy efficiently."

What do you guys think about this?
Have you ever heard in the news where they said: "We have cured .... with computing power!"?
So this is like SETI@home?
So how does my idle CPU help cure cancer?

Does it do some weird stats stuff to predict every outcome of the future?

There are many other projects like this. If I get this right, you are providing CPU power to process data. In this case chemical formulas.
That is really nice - but BitCoin mining...

Basically, it allows them to use the processing power to test tons of molecules / molecular structures and get a variety of results of their behavior reaction in certain conditions.

Its not a direct cure, it only aids the process of research.
Might try this out...

Thanks for the share OP. 🤝

Yeah. No problem, just wanted to see what some people on HF would think about this topic, since members here are into topics such as crypto-currency mining etc.
Sounds similar to bitcoin stuff
I remember doing this on the Playstation @Home thing. I left my PS3 on for a long time and of course the longer I did: The higher the electric bill and the closer I was to the YLOD.
I doubt a slow CPU would benefit the project, does it?
Cryptomining vs. cancer research.
Greed vs. selflessness.
If this has any relation to the patterns of the world, then there will be far more people using spare computing power to cryptomine than process data for medical research.

Thanks for the share OP 🤝
Thanks for sharing this.
My current progress :D

So this is pretty much like folding at home?

Dude that is crazy interesting !!! Thnks for the share OP
Is it weird that computers get me hard ???🎉🎉🤗🤗
