The hype is real

Its going to be higher clock speeds most likely but it may have slightly less Cudacores, rops and some other shit we know its 6gb ram which is about what ud want right now the Titan X will be overall better however the 980 ti will be a smarter buy as its 250-300 bucks less and the 390X should rape a Titan X. The 980Ti might be less but if I remember reading correctly, the R9 390x has a wider memory bus and will be utilizing 8gb of HDM (high density memory), the successor to GDDR5 which NVIDIA won't be adopting until later. Also, the R9 390x will be able to use DirectX 12 to it's full capabilities, unlike the GTX 980 Seems like the extra $200 will be worth it, no? #FREEKNIGHT If you know me, PM me for new XMPP. It's HBM, not HDM, which stands for High Bandwidth Memory, not High Density Memory. Also 3 days ago AMD confirmed the first edition of the 390x will only have 4GB and the second edition will have the 8GB. http://arstechnica.com/information-techn...hics-card/ (May 22, 2015 01:27 PM)Ichi Wrote: The 980Ti might be less but if I remember reading correctly, the R9 390x has a wider memory bus and will be utilizing 8gb of HDM (high density memory), the successor to GDDR5 which NVIDIA won't be adopting until later. The 390X should have DOUBLE memory bandwidth of the Titan X with a bit more compute performance and should be pretty good at tesselation as well maybe even close to the Titan X (The 285 beat the 290X in tessellation despite having shitty specs because of 1.2 architecture.) AMD always destroyed Nvidia in Computer and pretty good on wider memory bus however Nvidia was ahead on tessellation. Gameworks games typically try to bottleneck AMD cards by using excessive tesselation which hruts their cards less than AMD cards, forcing physx making AMD cards offload it to CPU as amd cards are blocked from physx and shit like that. AMD has been trying to eliminate the bottlenecks that Nvidia is forcing on them and DX12 removes a huge bottleneck GPU's have the drawcall bottleneck. Nvidia cards get most features from DX12 but not all. ![]() Not only do I think the 390X will beat the Titan I think it will last more than twice as long due to driver updates from AMD while Nvidia will neglect Titan after Pascal comes. Just now hearing about the 1st and 2nd editions. In that case, the 980Ti might be a better buy over the 1st edition card, but I would place the 2nd edition with 8GB of HBM over a 980Ti #FREEKNIGHT If you know me, PM me for new XMPP. Old one is dead

Looks sexy. I'm thinking of potentially switching to the other side, dependent upon how this goes.

However, what I've read about the 390x vs Titan X, the 390x will be faster but how does the 980Ti compare? Will it be a slower card than the Titan x? Your limited to 4gb per stack but they could use 8gb on the 390x using a dual link interposer they basically stated in an interview recently that 4gb is not the limit per card but per stack of hbm. Theoretically you could have a 16gb hbm gen 1 card but ud need a quad link interposer and a beefy memory controller and it would cost 10 kajillion (actual estimate) dollars (May 22, 2015 01:58 PM)CorruptedSoul Wrote: U can get 8gb on gen 1 hbm. Correct, I didn't mean it was a limit, AMD is just not releasing the first cards as 8GB is all. People are just using specs for comparison and we all know specs doesn't mean jack. |
