But I'm wondering what kind of texture/pattern or whatever he used in the background of first image? (Those stars)

I know what stock that is however, it's better if you create your own style instead of trying to copy his..

Are you looking for that specific image? Because to me it just looks like a galaxy texture he mirrored, then he overlayed it with some metal scratches and added scan lines ontop of it all.

You can achieve that by literally searching for a galaxy or stars

I agree with Scklyic, I think he put a starfield layer on top of a metal grunge texture and set the starfield layer to overlay on the layer settings. The last thing he did was use a color correction that had scan lines in it.
