I just recently finished watching Eden of the East, along with the two movies.
I put this anime off for a while because I initially watched the anime back in 2011 before the two movies were made, which summed up more than the anime had.
I really liked the idea behind the whole anime as it was very original.
The simple idea was to give 12 people "magic" phones that each carried 10,000,000,000 JPY and ask them to use that money to change the country. Each were linked to an AI that took special orders upon request while deducting money accordingly.
This kind of had me thinking. What if this idea were applied in real life to individual countries, with the exception of phones loaded with money and an inhumanly smart AI built into it.
Imagine each country selecting 12 people and giving them the equivalence of 10,000,000,000 JPY. An example would be USA, where the conversion (at the time during 2011) would have been 100,000,000 USD. It's about 81,000,000 USD now.
Now just some questions:
1. Do you think countries selecting individuals and giving them the equivalence of 10,000,000,000 JPY to their country's currency and then asking them to change the country by spending it a good idea?
2. Do you think more positive could be done or the opposite?
3. How would you change your country if you were given the equivalence of 10,000,000,000 JPY?
I'd appreciate if you guys answered my questions.
The rules could be something like:
- No self spending, only 0.5% can be used on yourself
- No converting the money to another country's currency
- You can invest the money for profit but all profit but must be used for your cause
As for myself, I think this could be a good idea, but it could also be bad with a bunch of randoms taking the approach. A lot could definitely change for the better, but a lot more could change for the worse.
I'm not too sure how I would personally attempt to change my own country. All I know is that I would definitely make an attempt to help the lower class somehow.
