Hey guys: The title says it all...shared hosting (GoDaddy and HostGator), or set up own server, or a VPS?

Security/Vulnerability opinions Shared Hosting vs Own Server or VPS |

Thanks guys.
Just a standard website I'm worried about protecting as I learn more here, lol. No submission forms for sql attacks, strong ass password/2-factor +telephone pin, ssl. I would be worried about securing my own server, or even a VPS since I would guess a large hosting company has better resources like DDos protection, malware scanning etc. Or am I wrong? Regardless of whether you have your own VPS, that VPS could be hosted on a dedi used by other customers who use VPSs, making the CPU restriction no different. @OP if you're not poor, just buy your own dedicated server. Otherwise get a VPS. |
