Really? I was rather unsatisfied with it and it didn't bother me... So I looked up the visual novel. It's not translated yet but I spent like an hour or something reading a summary of what happens in the rest of the VN (The anime only covered the first half or so), and while I spoiled it all for myself I can say god damn that would have been an amazing read if it was translated to English. The drama that happens later is way bigger than the anime, tbh just reading the summary moved me more than the anime did.
If you're interested in knowing how the characters keep living their lives, and don't mind getting spoiled of what is happening in the VN, here:

Not sure if you're familiar with how visual novels work but basically you can go different routes. So in this summary it will skip back in time to go another route some times. CUDA is here the shit goes down.
I like how the writer here says that the CUDA arc is basically the After Story of Clannad. Considering what happens etc I agree, it's too bad it doesn't have an anime adaption... (yet? :D)
Oh and some of the OST is fucking amazing here
Hard to recommend stuff you haven't seen without seeing what you've seen but, Clannad AS, Anohana and Angel Beats are must-mentions although you probably watched all of them. Although if you can play Visual Novels, I very strongly recommend Grisaia no Kajitsu. It's long. It's probably gonna take you 50-60-70 hours in total. But it's so worth it. The first part of the VN is the common route which is, well, bright? I guess. It's funny and shows the characters personalities and stuff. But there's not much drama. However then you enter one of the 5 girls' routes and shit starts going down. I've only played 3 1/2 of them yet, but so far usually some major action happens and you get closer to that character, learning about their backstories. And they are FUCKED UP. The reason they are in that academy in the first place is cause they can't function in a normal society yet again... So they recover. The MC too, in the start you don't know much about him at all other than that he doesn't seem like your ordinary guy. So slowly as you play more and more of the MC gets revealed as well. Anyway back to the girls, after the common route is when the drama happens. Their backstories can be horrible and make you cry for sure. THing about visual novels is that they do this well cause you actually spend a lot of time in the game so you get attached to them. After Grisaia no Kajitsu there are 2 more games which focus more on MC now that you know his past and stuff, with the girls around of course. Those 2 games are currently being translated, the 2nd one should be out this year. 3rd sometime next year I guess. Grisaia no Kajitsu has an anime adaptation, and while I don't wanna say it's bad, it's definitely shit compared to the VN. Because they combine all the routes of all this gameplay into 13 episodes, it's way too rushed and you don't feel any drama at all because they just sweep through it without the backstories etc.
welp wall of text
lol
