Custom Build

Rate this build: $2200 gaming build w/peripherals

Planning on building this for gaming/light workstation stuff. Not sure if I should go an i7 or not. Will be overclocked. I got the Noctua fans to replace those ugly ones that come default with the cooler, and will hide those ones in the front or bottom of the case as intakes.

Here is my second, yes I know there is no price on the CPU, but it should be $350-$400 at most so there was room left in the budget, this would also be my preferred build of the 2.

Pretty much this. I'd wait until there's benchmarks for the Skylake CPUs and see where they go with it. There's honestly nothing wrong with this build, but that you might miss out on a little more. Also, spend some money on a good DAC rather a soundcard.

Focusrite Scarlett
FiiO E10K
These two are pretty popular, the FiiO is mostly recommended for if you just have headphones, the Scarlett is for both a studio mic and headphones.
