Is it possible to earn money from scratch on HF

You can’t be part of HF for long without wondering if there’s really any money to be made. You’ll often hear people bragging about their hundreds of dollars per day on the forum, so I decided to try it out for myself. I needed the money, so why not? There was so much to choose from and I must admit everything from doxing to cracking caught my eye. I'm not the best programmer nor the best web hacker out there so I needed something else for my flair. Since I started a helpdesk inside the Wifi WPA WEP Bluetooth 4G LTE Wireless Hacking section, it would make sense to market in an area I have a reputation for. This gave me 2 choices of product:

1. Write an eBook
2. Offer a cracking service

Just as I was about to start with the cracking service, lightning struck in an old birch tree a right next to my house and destroyed the TV, DVD player, and my cracking server on top of it. Fortunately, the house didn’t sustain any damage, so I had to go with option 1 and write on the skill of WiFi hacking. The helpdesk actually boosted sales. Think about it, where do you reach all potential customers by advertising right under their noses over and over? Yep, in a helpdesk! Show your skills and knack for the subject. Advertise your product and when someone is satisfied with your help, they might just check that book out.

I know that writing a book might be your thing, but you might be a skilled programmer, or you're good with bots, anything. Find out where you shine brightest.

The hard part was not the writing, the hard part was the family, so I wrote the first 40-ish pages inside the old group Revolution’s SF, which I had to postpone over father duties. It was a stormy time, we moved twice and we almost lost our second new-born child 2 days old to RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) thank god for Swedish ER… Never mind.

Eventually, I returned to HF and discovered that some of my friends where banned and groups removed. Revolution had changed name, not once but twice, and naturally I lost membership in all of my groups after the hiatus. To continue, I had to take a risk and find a new HQ group out there that still remembered me where I could continue writing.

It’s interesting to see how fast you’re forgotten around here, especially if you take a longer break. I could count those who still remembered me with 2 hands, so I had to start from square one and rebuild my reputation. Luckily I found a new home in Specialists where I restarted the old helpdesk thread, and forged many new relationships. This group practically cheered on while I wrote, “come on, just one more chapter!” I had to rewrite parts and remove parts or just move. There were moments I thought about releasing it as-is but in hindsight, I’m glad I didn't. Ran into some problems with the branding (signature and thread design). I could have borrowed the needed money from Bull if I wanted to, but as I thought I can never be sure to sell a single copy… it’s a risk I’m not willing to take.

Time to start saving up. I stumble over a thread about selling your sig-space so I had an appraisal on my signature, expecting little more than $2, but ended up at $5. As my stats grew, so did the price. I got a better deal on the next round. Before I knew it, I had the money to buy my eBook some fancy graphics.

Next up was proofreading. I needed people to comb the entire document for errors. Luckily, I found 2 friends that willing to do that in exchange for a copy of my book. It took a couple of days to address each of their findings, but it was finally ready.

Searching for a payment system, I had to search everywhere for a service that would allow a 3mb PDF document and ended up going with AIOBuy. It handled the business end whilst you get to enjoy watching your payments roll in. Of cause there have been a couple of hiccups, there always, but all of them has been taken care of. Alex is a HQ guy!

Selling the book was a nightmare at first. I took the wrong decision to accept payments solely through Bitcoin - it worked, but the sales did not do well. I was finally convinced to accept PayPal as well but it’s much harder to connect a HF user to a sale with nothing more than their email address and Skype is out of the question. I don't like PayPal but I have to admit it works flawlessly. Also, to temporarily sell the product at a lower price and call it "crazy weeks" made a difference.

Being in a group respected by the forum helps the sales a bit. I would not be as had I not belonged to a group such as Specialists.

I don't know who you are H3god, but thanks, that post proves what Im trying to say the whole time, being in a group will boost the sales. not only for me, but for all connected to the group.

To boost sales i was finally convinced to accept PayPals as well but there's much harder to connect a HF user to a sales, when you only got an E-mail and nothing more, Sometimes they do connect to Skype with questions. I don't like PayPal but i have to admit it works flawlessly. Also to temporary sell the product at a lower price and call it "crazy weeks" did boost the sales

So the final question is: is it worth it? Absolutely if you're willing to put the work in. There's money to make on this site. However, fake books, apps, crypters and such will punish you in the long run so it’s important you do well and build a reputation as a trustworthy and honest seller.

You’re probably wondering how much I’ve made with this eBook, and the answer is close to around $150/month. Keep in mind this $150 is pure profit (no stickies, paid advertising, etc.) which is a good return for a solid month of work.

Will I do this again? Definitely if I find the right subject to write about. I feel that if you want to make money, you have to stand out, be real and HQ. Writing a book about how to money won’t unless you're well-known around the forum.
What an amazing read. I remember the times when you talk about the eBook in the group chat and how everyone was supporting you. Glad that you were able to push things out.

Also, I never expected that much interest in these kinds of eBooks, but you proved me wrong!
