Recommendations
In this part I will be going over a bunch of different genres of anime and in each one will be suggesting some you should watch. So before making a recommendation thread, please take the time to read this as you may find your answer here.
Action
Plays out mainly through a clash of physical forces, a fast paced story with many battles, deaths, injury and other things commonly found in action movies. Frequently these stories have fast cuts, tough characters making quick decisions and usually a beautiful girl nearby.
Attack on Titan
Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of titans.
Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a titan in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a colossal titan that appears out of thin air. As the smaller titans flood the city, the two of them watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single titan and take revenge for all of mankind.
Psycho Pass
The series takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person's state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term "Psycho-Pass" refers to a standard used to measure an individual's being. The story centers around the "enforcement officer" Shinya Kougami, who is tasked with managing crime in such a world.
Black Bullet
The Gastrea virus spreads like wildfire, causing each infected host to rapidly mutate, gaining new powers and abilities with every stage of development, even while they continue to attack, kill and infect multiple new hosts.
Unable to fight a pandemic enemy that turns defenders into adversaries, the shocked remnants of the human race are forced to retreat into cities surrounded by giant monoliths made of Varanium, one of the few materials that can stop the Gastrea. Now mankind's last hope lies in the Cursed Children: young girls infected with the virus who have managed to retain a hold on their humanity. Paired with a partner, they alone have the strength to take on a Gastrea in one-on-one combat.
But the very thing that gives them power is a ticking time bomb, so even as they protect humanity, they are also feared and shunned.
Aria: The Scarlet Ammo
Kinji is a junior at a high school for mercenaries. He just wants to be normal, but his secret condition—he turns into an ace killer when he's turned on by the female form—triggers a fiery transfer student's unrelenting desire to make him her partner.
Adventure
Typically applied to anime in which a group of people and/or a single protagonist are placed in a series of events or one lengthy event which places their lives or the lives of someone they care about in danger. The protagonist/s will usually have to use his wits, allies, skills etc to navigate through these trials and eventually reach the goal they were after. The stories are usually not in an epic but in a rather gripping and interesting way.

Armed with his street smarts and her animal instincts, a simple peddler and a forgotten deity begin a journey through the wild countryside. Along their path, the riches of happiness shall be reaped, even as the bankruptcy which dwells in the human heart is exposed.
No Game No Life
No Game No Life is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, shut-in NEET siblings and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username "Kuuhaku." They view the real world as just another lousy game; however, a strange e-mail challenging them to a chess match changes everything—the brother and sister are plunged into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the God of Games.
The mysterious god welcomes Sora and Shiro to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflict—from petty squabbles to the fate of whole countries—are settled not through war, but by way of high-stake games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule wherein each party must wager something they deem to be of equal value to the other party's wager. In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child’s play, the indifferent genius gamer duo of Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing games: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet, and become the gods of this new, gaming-is-everything world

In the year 2022, virtual reality has progressed by leaps and bounds, and a massive online role-playing game called Sword Art Online (SAO) is launched. With the aid of "NerveGear" technology, players can control their avatars within the game using nothing but their own thoughts.
Kazuto Kirigaya, nicknamed "Kirito," is among the lucky few enthusiasts who get their hands on the first shipment of the game. He logs in to find himself, with ten-thousand others, in the scenic and elaborate world of Aincrad, one full of fantastic medieval weapons and gruesome monsters. However, in a cruel turn of events, the players soon realize they cannot log out; the game’s creator has trapped them in his new world until they complete all one hundred levels of the game.
In order to escape Aincrad, Kirito will now have to interact and cooperate with his fellow players. Some are allies, while others are foes, like Asuna Yuuki, who commands the leading group attempting to escape from the ruthless game. To make matters worse, Sword Art Online is not all fun and games: if they die in Aincrad, they die in real life. Okay, maybe that's not as easy as it sounds, but it's worked for Mei - or at least, it did until handsome, charming and annoyingly popular Yamato Kurosawa came along. For some freakish reason, he seems to like Mei. He even gave her his phone number! As if she would ever call him. Except she did. But only because she needed help. Still, he came. He actually came. And now things are getting way too complicated.
Mei's no princess in a tower. She's not waiting for a knight in shining armor to rescue her. So why did he have to kiss her and confuse everything? And why are those three little words so hard to say?

Do's and Don'ts
In this part I'll be covering the Do's and Dont's of this section. Now before some people start jumping all over me, note that this is what I highly recommend and is my personal opinion.
Don't create a thread asking for a recommended anime without fully checking this thread.
Don't create a thread asking for recommendations for an anime without searching if there's an existing thread with the answer you are looking for.
You may create a thread for recommendations if you still can't find anything after doing the above.
Don't GRAVEDIG threads. If you're not familiar with this term, it means don't post on old threads. I made this mistake when I was new to this section. I posted in threads who's last reply was over a year old trying to be active. Try not to be that guy. There are some exceptions to gravedigging but just don't do it.
Don't create a discussion thread without checking if there's one already.
Bonus:
If you're looking for a website to stream anime I suggest using either
Kissanime.com or Moetube.com (<--made by an hf member)
If you want to read a manga I suggest using
Kissmanga.com

I would like to thank you all for taking your time to read this handbook I wrote. I hope it helped you familiarize yourself with this section and the recommendations. I spent several hours working on this so I hope you enjoyed it.
