Hello all,
So earlier this afternoon when I logged into my computer, I noticed that my chrome and firefox browsers were redirecting to a yahoo search page that was routing through a searchinterneat-a.akamaihd.net (or something similar) web address. The chrome redirect was even affecting my chromebook, and the only way I could get chrome to resolve the issue was to uninstall and reinstall. Firefox resolved the issue when I reset the browser.
I couldn't find anything truly reputable online about this, but there seemed to be tons of sites that had popped up in the last day or two regarding this issue. Has anyone heard or witnessed this issue? And if so, do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of it or correct it in the future?
Prior to this and prior to the uninstall, I ran the following:
- Adware Cleaner
- CCleaner
- JRT
- Malware Bytes
- Microsoft Software Removal Tool
- Rkill
- TDSSKiller
I also checked each of the processes on the computer, looked in my C:/ and restarted to see what popped up when the computer was started fresh. No luck.
Thanks for reading everyone and I hope that someone has encountered this or has a better suggestion for me. 🤝
EDIT: I'm not sure if this belongs in the web browser section or in the white hat/virus section. So if it belongs in the other section, please let me know. Or moderator, please feel free to delete it from here. Thanks!
