The HF News Team has weekly news editions for the community. Each member helps out with their assigned role and is a closely knit group. This is not a social group, it is a group purely for HF News. Please leave now if you are joining simply to socialize, you can join "custom" groups if that is your intention. Each member has a responsibility to provide the team and the community with quality work that is turned in on time. Other responsibilities exist, and you'll familiarize yourself with them if invited. Treat this like a staff member role, maturity is everything and we don't run the group as any other group. I'll repeat it again, it's purely for HF News.

We have a lot of roles to select from which you can read more about within the spoiler below. If you have any questions, please post them here and only PM me if it is personal.

This recruitment will not be like the W4TCHL1ST recruitment that the previous leader used. We will look for proper grammar and wording, clean organization and structure, and, lastly, quality and details of your writing. Think of it as an informal paper for school.

Below will Intro Questions, Freewrite, and Section Piece. Section Piece will have multiple forms to select from depending on which role you'd like to apply for. You may complete more than one if you'd like to apply for multiple positions. The layout for the questions and freewrite are up to you, but you must follow the format of the section piece. For the Section Piece, you have the option to use real data/info, or make up your own stuff.

This will be a rolling recruitment which means the recruitment will stay open for a long period of time and we will invite/recruit as needed. Do not contact anyone, including myself, regarding the status of your application. Those who do will run the risk of being denied immediately. PM me directly if you have any questions, do not post anything other than applications in this thread.

No need to complete freewrite for now. All Roles - Freewrite
Select a topic of your own, and freewrite regarding the topic. Topics are up to you, it can be for example: "Why internet privacy is everything for today's society". No minimum or maximum limit, write as much as you feel is needed to prove a point in regards to your topic. Some can do it in a paragraph, others will need 4 paragraphs to complete their freewrite - it's all based on the topic chosen.

I've been on these forums since 2013 and lurked around during the oldfag times. I'm really interested in writing for HF news under the Omnicoin section because I have a lot of experience with in that section; mining, speaking with developers, and brainstorming ways to help the Omnicoin market. I've been around these forums long enough to understand the ever changing culture that exists here which I believe will be a really good asset to the team. It will stay open for as long as I am the leader of Writers. I'll make new threads of it when I feel the need to but we'll always be recruiting. Not necessarily accepting members but you'll always be given the chance to apply. It's called a rolling recruitment.

Unfortunately, I cannot say that I have any specific writing skills. When I was in school I had attended a private school which I received a scholarship at. My teacher & principal were both very strict in writing. Because of this, I have learned to write with proper grammar and self correct any mistakes I make.

I am a 23 year old student attending university. My hobbies are pentesting, programming and gaming. Ever since I was a young teen, I had dreamed of starting an online business. At least I can say I partially achieved one of my goals since I do own a couple websites which are helping me pay off my student loans. Overall, I am a fun guy to be around that can make friends easily.

Favorite Book?: This is a very hard question, I don't have a favorite however books I enjoyed reading were Fahrenheit 451, Lord of the Flies, and all of Stephen Kings horror books.

    The role I am applying for is tech news, though I could see myself doing well in security or world news as well.
  • What skills related to writing do you have?
    I have been an avid reader my entire life, and while I never "enjoyed" any form of school, I excelled at anything related to English and writing. I've grown up using computers just like anyone else, but one unique qualification I have is the five years I spent working for a government agency. 60% of every day for me was writing formal reports, writing Standard Operating Procedures, and writing official training materials. At times it wasn't glamorous, but it certainly honed my writing skills in many different ways.

Samsung Pay launches in the US
The new Samsung Pay service, which was launched over a month ago in South Korea, has made its way to the US. Samsung faces numerous challenges, primarily in the form of competition with Apple Pay, and Android Pay. Adding to that are its restrictions upon startup. The service will only be supported initially, on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 devices. Another issue is support from card issuers. With over a year head start, Apple Pay has over 500 US banks already using their program, compared to the estimated 20 to 30 that Samsung will have enrolled at launch. Google to Provide India's Train Stations With Free WiFi
This Sunday Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced their plan to have 100 Indian Railways train stations equipped with free WiFi by the end of the year. It's estimated that the project will bring internet access to approximately 10 million out of the nearly 1 billion Indian citizens currently not online. Kevin Krewell, an analyst at Tirias Research pointed out some of the challenges. "There's limited or no infrastructure, power can be a problem. Running new wires is difficult, and keeping those wires from being stolen even more so." Elon Musk raised eyebrows at the unveiling of the Model X, saying it “gives you hospital level air quality” inside the vehicle. The car is equipped with HEPA air filters, which Musk claims are capable of removing airborne toxins such as the ones used in many biological weapons. The strange feature is accessed by a small button on the dash of the car, which pumps up the Model X’s HEPA air filter to their maximum level.
